So my dad gets himself into these spots quite frequently, and usually makes out at fair or EXCELLENT prices. He seems to always find the older farmer or land owner with new or slightly used rifles from the ages for next to nothing in the rural areas he works in, but in handguns he's a bit out of his league so far...;)

He's just picked up a mint, possibly never fired S&W Model 41 for I think $400 bills, and the seller (all legal, registered, etc...but estate sale through a dealer) has a Dan Wesson 10 inch barrel 44 mag for sale as well, as new, again, very low to never fired condition in the original box. I don't know its age or exact model, only that it is blued, double action.

What might the 44mag be worth?

Ya might want to think about that 10 inch barrel length. A bit muzzle heavy, donchaknow. ;) Fortunately Dan Wesson barrels can still be had but nloit cheap.

A friend bought a .22 with an 8 inch barrel and had to replace it with a 6 inch one.

Have two Dan Wessons, both .357 but one has a choice of 4 barrels.

I will like to get a .45 colt from them, J.Taffin made me a believer on that one, and I always prefer the .45 over the .44, recoil is smoother on my hand. Why? cannot really tell, but for me, it's a fact.

But upnorth, I don't think I can find one. Boo!

Thanks for the input guys, I think he passed on it due to the long barrel.

SSJChar - I'm always amazed at the stuff he finds in rural areas. He's buddies with a couple small dealers in Sask and AB, manages to find some damn good buys....like the Model 41....or the STI Spartan he got with a CRSpeed holster, CRSpped belt, RCBS Carbide dies, 6 mags, and 250 rounds of ammo, for $500 bucks, like new....pristine condition!
