number of sterling mk6 12.4 out there

interested in a sterling mk6, never see them ,anyone know how many are out there, have seen a few police carbines come up.not sure why so expensive as the police carbine is only restricted ,why not import them. Am i missing something???

They haven't made them in 30 years. Probably a good reason they are no longer imported:wave:

From what I understand, the only restricted Sterling is the MK4 Police Carbine, with all the other marks being prohibited by either OIC or an integral suppressor. Sterling initially planned to sell the MK4 PC on a large scale on the civilian market in the UK, but after a lawsuit on its "ease of converting to full-auto" (even though this was later dispelled) voluntarily decided not to.

Thus, not very many of the MK4 PC's were made, with fewer finding their way into civilian hands. The MK4 PC's would be importable, but good luck finding one (would have to be outside of the US).

The MK6 is prohibited by OIC:

Former Prohibited Weapons Order No. 12 (in effect since October 1, 1992)

* The firearm of the design commonly known as the Sterling Mk 6 Carbine, and any variant or modified version of it.

Why not make one ? Should be able to register a "homemade" one over the phone.
