Looking to purchase a AR-15, most likely a .223, haven't had to much luck in finding a Firearm dealer out here in BC that carries them, was wondering if anyone knows of a good store ? What a good price range is, cause I don't want to pay more then the rifle is worth ?

For my first I am looking for a complete rifle in a standard package, nothing too fancy. But something that is of good quality.:sniper:

Check out some of the sponsors shown above in the banner ads.

You can get a Norinco AR (copy) for about $600 or over $2000 for a high end one. Just depends on what you want to start with....there are lots and lots of different mods/additions to put on an AR afterwards.

You should also decide what type you want....a shorter CQB type AR or a 24" bull barrel sniper type setup.

There are also many other threads on this topic so a search will help you out as well.

Good luck and have fun.

Dealer: Wolverine Supplies

Brand: Sabre Defense

.

Im not sure I understand how this works? If Wolverine Supplies is a Canadian store, but Sabres Defence is a US store, how can you buy guns from them?

Does the Wolverine store buy them from the states and then send them to you (or your local firearms store?)

and then what about prices? I would assume the prices listed on the Sabre Defence site is in US dollars, so how do you know how much the gun will end up costing you?

I saw & felt one at P&D the other day, they go for $2k+..Get a bushmaster or armalite instead.

If you want to pay that much money, might as well get a Colt while they last.

Sabre is a mfg of AR systems.

Questar, Armseast, wolverine & Socom Supply are distributors of AR systems, pricing is on their websites.

RRA, Armalite, LMT, Stag are all good brands, I have no experience with the Sabre ones therefore I can't comment on them.

AR's come in many configurations, your best to look in the picture forum and find the type you like, keep in mind that many have been upgraded & customized but at least you can see the general configurations.

If you’re looking for a carbine, Questar may have one or two LMT's left in 5.56. You don't have to go with a complete rifle just a complete upper and complete lower. If you go that route you could get a Noveske upper at Socom Supply and maybe an Armalite lower from Wolverine?

Stainless barrel for accuracy or chrome lined for lifespan? Do you want a single stage trigger or two stage? Flat top or A2 with fixed carry handle? Carbine for close quarters or rifle for reliability?

As geeg said search these forums so you know all your options first. If you only plan on owning one upper/lower, don't rush it or you'll end up buying one and wanting another after doing more research.

Wolverine Supplies has a price list for Saber in Canadian $

Well so far from poking around the various sponsors sites
I like the Armalite M15A2 Rifle:

Chrome for lifespan, single stage trigger is fine with me, A2with fixed carry handle and rifle for reliability. Nothing too fancy but does the job.

I figure I can always upgrade parts later if needed, mostly just want to get out there and do some shooting.:)

:ar15: What he said. Check out the Armalite main site for descriptions and such. Also check out the Rock River Arms main site.

If you find one you like, contact Wolverine for Armalite or Questar for the RRA. Both great places and great people.

I just got an olympia arms ar from local gun store but wasn't too knowledgeable on these and paid I think too much. Its about 15 years old,it looks brand new but they are not that expensive new. It came with a nicer grip and a bushnell ,decent variable power scope. I paid 1000 for it. What I likely should have got is the armalite 180b in non restricted form then could have shot it at my farm or wifes parents farm. This way I got a rifle that can only be shot at the range.
I live near the range so its not the end of the world but its still a bit limiting.
The armalite 180b is around a thousand. Make sure you get the non restrcted one if you that route. It has some differences over the normal ar. Sythetic lower and few other things.
That said I really like my olympia arms rifle. It worked flawless at the range the other day and it just feels great very low recoil and looks evil.
I plan on adding a bipod and just ordered a front grip. Will also add lower rail on the handguard so can throw my laser flashlight on there if want to.

Cool there is even one with a 22" barrel :)

Camo paint isn't such a big deal, can always re-paint it

Being restricted isn't such a bad thing I don't have anywhere else around but the range to go shooting at too.

Your better off spending the money on a rifle purchase to get the rifle you want.

Half measures don't cut it in the long run.

I recomend Stag, LMT or Colt in no particular order.
