Well,

I have several boxes of .410 2&1/2" shells I have no use for.

I pulled one, and put it in a 45/70 case... powder, cup, and shot.

It's like 1/4 inch from full in a 45/70 case.

I should be able to cap these off and use em, right? Can't see any issues.

I see no reason they won't work. Check out funny patterns on the pattern board.
What did you use to close the 45-70 case, card wad?

Haven't capped them off yet. I was thinking styrofoam/white glue.

I'm hoping that the 410 wad/cup will help the pattern a bit, it's quite loose in the bore and the rifling might not end up engaging the shot.

Back from the range, they pattern fairly well until they open up too much to be of use. 35 feet = some pretty big holes. 15 feet = can aim above a grouse's head and be sure to take it off. I think inside of 20 will be shooting above the head, then another 10/15 feet of shooting at the body.

Sealing brass shells with white glue hasn't worked too well for me. Shrinks too much and doesn't stick. I've heard silicone or hot glue gun works.

Going to a pottery place to get some "waterglass" (sodium silicate) this week sometime. Thats the historical solution
to sealing brass shot shells.
