M4 style collapsable stock availablility?

No you cant, however as stated before, questar has them, they are not crappy quality, they are actually quite nice. Great deal too@ 79$ I bought one to mount my magpul stock.

Yea this is for more of a project so the Questar ones are out for now.

Would the importation rules extend to stock parts? For example could I bring in just the stock without the tube? Also does this include the Ace style collapsable stocks?

Current US State Department restrictions on newly issued export permits are stating that the permit does NOT allow the export (for civilian end-users or commercial resale) of any collapsible, adjustable or folding stock or parts thereof.

Under that wording a permit would not allow the stock (if an adjustable, collapsible or foldable type), the stock kit or the adjustable stock type extension tube to be exported.

The last few permits we've seen issued actually went so far as to exclude "pinned" stocks... seems some "pinned" stocks were being exported and the pins removed afterwards so now they won't allow pinned stocks.

So would this extend to fixed length stocks, like the Ace units?

As I've explained above, if it's fixed then it's not an issue.

There are some fixed stocks that "look" like collapsible M4's and they're okay as well since they are truly "fixed length" and can't be unpinned or anything like that (RRA makes one like that that's allowed... looks like an extended M4 collapsible but it's really a fixed length stock).

We also gotten approvals on stocks like the PRS where there are adjustments but essentially the length is fixed. That seems to be the issue with State Department... that the length isn't adjustable. It makes no sense what-so-ever but they don't have to make sense... they make the rules!

So aren't there any chinese made folding/retractable stocks. I'm mean it's not like we're takin our AR's to war or anything. And the chinese stuff is getting better. maybe, sort of, hopefully...

Screw the states if their going to be that way. We'll just find another way, thats all.

BTW, how permenantly pinned would they be. Couldn't we un-pin them and be back to 100% without screwing them up to much?

That's exactly why they don't allow "pinned" stocks to be exported any more. The yanks don't like it when we flagrantly disregard their intent.

ETA: The ones currently allowed for export that look like collapsible stocks are actually made with rifle length buffer tubes, so even if you decided to pull it apart all you'd be able to mount would be a regular solid buttstock.
