Remmington 700 SPS

A local store has these on sale for $319.00 plus a $30.00 mail in rebate.

Are these rifles any good? Is this really a 700 or is this like the 710?

I'm looking to buy one for my wife in 7mm-08.

Any input is appreciated.

$319 is an amazing price on those. AFAIK the rebate is actually $40, not $30, and runs till the end of '08.

the 700 SPS is certainly not a 710/770. it is a proper model 700 action just with a lower-end synthetic stock and a cheaper finish on the gun. all the model 700 parts will fit.

that price is ridiculously low though, and the rebate isnt right -- make sure it actually is a 700 SPS and not something else.
