Looking for a caliber to fit with what I have

I would do either a 257 Roberts (that new Kimber Classic would be tempting)
Yea, if you knew you were going to get a shooter. Too many rumors flying around about Kimbers that won't shoot as well as you have to pay for them. Those Coopers are nice and come with an accuracy guarantee.

I am looking at building a custom hunting rifle just because I have always wanted one. I have two factory hunting rifles already that have served me well but I want one that is exactly the way I want it.

I have a .308 Win and .270 Win already and everytime I think I found my caliber I always revert back to well thats not much better than I already have. I reload and would like something unique but not crazy or a one of a kind.

Only requirements are
.257 or larger .338 or smaller
No magnums

I have been tossing around these 3 but open to ideas on other calibers
6.5-06 Imp .284 Win .280 Imp

what would be a good 3rd addition to what I have. Would be used for all North American game but the bears. Thanks in advance.

With all of your restrictions, there is no "good 3rd addition" to what you already have, except at the 338 bore size, and the 338-06 would be my choice. It gives you the ability to shoot 250gr bullets at usable hunting velocities. Even then, it won't kill anything any deader at greater ranges than the 270 or 308.

There is plenty of factory ammo and brass for those cartirdges, the 280AI brass and ammo is only offered by Nosler, as far as I know.

This is important if you're not a handloader, otherwise simply firing a 280 Rem in the AI chamber will give you a fire-formed AI case....thats all I do....
As for velocity, you're right again, the others mentioned are faster if that matters..:)

I've fireformed enough AI brass to come to the conclusion that there are easier and better ways to get from A to B.:)

In the case of the 280AI, it's called the 7mm Remington Magnum.;)

Step outside the box; commission a 25 Souper. It is a 308 win family cartridge in 25 calibre, think of it as a 25-06 that is not quite overbore. Not many around (for no good reason) and it will fill nicely into the lower end of what you want. I figure that what you want is close to the reason that most of us want "another" rifle; something "different!

It's all about enjoyment. I was just being practical for a bit.;)

I'm sure guilty of giving myself more work than I need. Heck, I created the highly acclaimed 30-30 WSM, a cartridge we really, really dont' need.:)

The hard hitters start at .35 cal. and go up from there....so i would recommend the .358 Win./.35Whelen/.358 STA/Norma or .356Win.(Lever gun) or larger.....anything smaller is just more of what you already have!
