I figured it was about time I did a little "scouting".

Rather, I just felt like going for a walk in the mountains. I came across some nice moosey looking country, and even heard a few low grunts, though I wasn't sneaky enough to get a picture. I found some good rub's, lot's of grouse and saw some pretty country. Yes I brought a rifle, no I didn't have to stop an enraged grizzly bear determined to suck the flesh off my bones to further build up his layer of bullet proof fur. :)

Sure an elaborate set up the trapper made for a set. Hope he got a few lynx, maybe a fisher or even a wolverine, to have made it worthwhile for him. Big enough and strong enough, anyway.

It's amazing how stupid grouse are. He just let you walk right up to him and take a picture. I had one jump in the back of my truck and start sleeping, then when he left the truck he started sleeping under the tire so every time I moved the truck I had to check if he was there first. Beautiful pictures too, where were they taken?

Not a trap set-up. It looked to be a lean-to type shelter. It was nailed and wired, but it looks as though the years have taken their toll. I'm sure it did it's job though. :)

If it is a lean-to it was built for people that stood about 3 feet 4 inches tall!
The log cross ways in the front is for the animal to step over, to guide his foot to the trap. The bait attractant is placed at the back of the cubby.
