Hunting on Sunday

In Ontario, it's specific to each Wildlife Management Unit. There are an increasing number of WMUs that have Sunday hunting, but by no means are all of them allowing it.

Just picked up this years alberta reg's and it states that starting this year it is legal to hunt on Sunday's!

Perdy much all land in southern Ontario is privately owned.

If Sunday hunting is allowed in you're zone, you should talk to the land owner about Sunday hunting with firearms.

Most people are indoors come colder, hunting season weather, and they wont hear the shots anyways, But it's still wise to ask before you shoot.

Just in case they disagree:cool:

I can't speak for Ontario but in Alberta I can count on one hand the number of farmers who have shooed me away.

Hunting on Sunday, like all hunting, is regulated by provinces, so it varies.

Still no Sunday hunting in Saskatchewan, though outside of hunting season, anywhere that shooting isn't specifically prohibited, it's allowed, including on Sundays, and including wild animals that aren't classified as game or protected species.

Don't intend to start a debate about it, but I for one don't agree with province-wide hunting on Sundays. Fine in the "green zones" - there are few people to interrupt, but in denser populated rural areas I'm just not in favor of it. Cripes, the animals need a break too. Sundays are for many people a rare day to be home, do one or two things on the 'honey do" list, watch tV, whatever. I get enough road warriors trolling by my driveway on a dead end, short road to nowhere, several residences and posted as such on Saturdays.

All of Alberta is open to hunting on Sundays for birds, and the whole province is open for hunting big game, except the 100 series WMU's. I'm happy about, as sunday should be no different than other days. Good luck to everybody this year with their hunting, Eric

It's a good thing. It will encourage more city folks to rejoin the sport. They can now drive out on Friday evening, hunt Saturday and Sunday and head home. It will help in some of the more remote zones with overpopulation problems. That "should" help with the depredation and disease problems. Kudos to all the changes in this years regulations!!

No debate, just another point of view.

I live in the 100 WMU's. Prior to this year we only had Thurs-Fri-Sat to hunt big game. Birds were Mon-through Sat. This year they have added Wed to the big game season. Dosen't exactly leave a lot of time to hunt. Add in the several year wait to hunt MD buck, Antelope and now Elk close to home, it would be nice to have the same time frame to hunt as the rest of Alberta. Until recent years, it was uncommon to draw doe tags year after year. Even now with the high populations and CWD culls, there are some 100s where you still wait multiple years to hunt does. All in all the seasons in the 100's are darn short!

Add in the high cost of gas, the difficulty getting time off, access etc and it is not too hard to see why there are hunter retention issues in the South Country. Being forced to travel to hunt is getting old real fast.

WRT folks cruising your driveway on a Sat, just tell em to pizz-off, any one calling themselves a hunter should have access sorted out pre-season. Granted there extenuating issues, those are easy to deal with case by case.
