Anyone try shooting clays both right handed and left handed? The other day I had put about 200 shells through my Mossberg and thought I'd try something new. I was hitting most everything that I could see (not the ones thrown 2 feet above the grass). So I figured I'd try shooting some left handed. After two or three misses I got the hang of it and was hitting about 50% after that. It may have been more but the thrower was acting up and some were basically impossible to hit. Anyone do both sides? I'm not sure what the benefits are but it's always fun to master a new talent.

Being mostly right handed but left eye dominant I learned to shoot both ways and am equally good (or bad depending on how you look at it) with both.

I shoot more combat type shooting with my shotgun that clays and actually prefer shooting the 870 left handed since I end up using my right (more dextrous writing hand) hand to load the gun and can see the open action ejection port in my peripheral vision when I am 'combat loading' with the gun on my shoulder
Cheers

i never tryed to shoot skeet left handed but i was shooting paper targets ok, though since im not used to using the other shoulder it wasnt vary pleasent to shoot 3" duck loads :p

I'm right hand dominant, right eye dominant and my shotguns are set up with right hand cast. Shooting clays left handed would make no sense at all.

X2 Good way to make your scores go way down though.

I don't worry about scores unless someone challenges me. And if I get really good with my left hand then it's just one more thing that I can do that most people can't. I'm secure enough to have fun once in a while and take a "low score" to get better at something.

Being right eye dominate and shooting left hand would be a waste of shells.

I don't know..... first time I tried it and I hit 50%. Not that much of a waste. This weekend I would bet that I will be around 80%. Guess it all depends on what a person enjoys.

Shooting well often means doing enough conscious practice so that when shooting, your move to the target is subconscious. When you decide to go to the off hand side your conscious mind gets involved. A practiced subconscious will put the gun on target many times quicker and many times more accurate than the conscious mind.

Unfortunately I'm unconscious most of the time. :)
