Tee hee!

As soon as my coffee kicks in, I am off up the hill to try some "practical" handgun drills with my Ruger 22/45 MkIII. I have no idea why I haven't thought of trying this before? CHEAP!!! And - 5 minutes of cleaning afterwards!

Now: Anybody got some good suggestions for a holster and mag pouches? I see that fobus now makes a paddle for the MkII/MkIII, but I suspect that it would destroy the plastic trigger guard of the 22/45.

Whoa, Nelly! Perhaps I am misunderstanding what you mean here (as my coffee hasn't quite kicked in) but although I would dearly love to do the same with my Ruger Mk II and S&W 625, there is I think, the small problem of legality, unless your pistol range is "up the hill" or you have an ATC or other dispensation. Otherwise you could be "up the creek."

LOL, I think nelly is maybe referring to PoCo, since he is in an occupation where he definitely knows the rules. :D

That's a great idea. Which range/pad is that going to be on? TMSA would seem to be the place to set something like that up, since the safety police;) are always out in full force at PoCo.

In that case, my apologies! As he is a regular contributor to CGN I was a bit surprised at what I thought he was suggesting, as well as seemingly breaking CGN rules by posting an illegal activity. Silly me. I had visions of some fella hiking up the North Shore mountains with a pistol secreted under his sweater. Of course, I'd like to do just that myself

The lesson is clear: Don't post until the coffee kicks in!

Well, back from the first "tacticool" session up the hill (Yes, at an approved range!), and I haven't had that much fun with a pistol for a while! I just wish I had brought more ammo - 200 rounds disappeared AWFULLY fast!

That said - The MkIII safeties do make things slower than with a "real" pistol - Having to physically remove the empty mag was okay, once I rmeinded myself to do tactical reloads all the time, and the requirement to manually depress the HOD also was no big deal.

Now - to search for holster and mag pouches!

And yes - The northshore hiking trip WOULD be fun, if legal!

 We are a bit touchy today! (Esp. since I have apologized to nelly, apparently to his satisfaction.) But since you ask, yes. I get $12.73 credit per incident. (And if you’ll believe that, I have a smoking good deal on some oceanfront property in Saskatchewan for you. PM me for details!) Of course, I would be unlikely to blow my cover by posting a query publicly about another member’s activities...

So chill, man! For the record, I don’t like some of our silly firearms regs. any more than you do, nor the paranoid antics of the US State Dept. who are driving Brownell’s and other suppliers crazy by demanding that each and every manufacturer be registered with them before their products can be exported. I’ve been corresponding with the long-suffering Sandy Moranville at Brownell’s re getting front sights. Marbles Outdoors is mired in paperwork and confusion; Williams Gunsights has just faxed them papers claiming consumer sights (as opposed to military ones) are exempt under something called a ”Year 99 clause” , whatever the heck that is!

And as to "government rats", it is possible that there could be such among the CGN membership as there is no way to confirm the private details of anyone who signs up. Who knows who is clandestinely monitoring this board? It is vaguely possible that that is the reason the moderators forbid even the suggestion of illegal activity on the board, such as "I’ve bought 3 scopes off guys on eBay US and had them mailed up here without getting hassled."

So I promise I’ll let the mods. tackle suspicious behaviour from now on, at least until the second cup of coffee has un-fuzzed my mind. Can I go back to work now, sir?

And it all works out in the end, since I work for "the government" anyway - I'm pretty much up to speed on everybody here, and what exactly your actual credit limits are...

JUST KIDDING!

Some people take all the fun out of people trying to take all the fun out of life - THAT's MY JOB!

I'm sure Stuart had my best interests at heart, and I thank him for trying to ensure that I wasn't one of the many.... blissfully ignorant folk on this board who do occasionally... err on the side of illegality.

NOW: Has anybody got any holster / mag pouch recommendations for my 22/45?

:)
