.22 Conversion Kit for Glock G17

I received my G17 a few weeks ago. Haven’t even been able to fire any rounds through it (damn ATT). But even before I bought the gun, I've been thinking about getting the .22 conversion kit for it. I have a 10/22 Ruger and 16$ for 500 shots is amazing, compared to 130$ for 500 9mm's.

This is also my first handgun. Many people told me to start small, learn to shoot, then move up in caliber size.
Does anyone have experience with .22 Conversion kits?

I found this kit. Is it the only kit? What’s the best price for this kit? Quality? Can I find magazines for less then 25$ somewhere else?

Police Ordnance sells the AA kit... That's where I bought mine.
IIRC extra mags where about $34 ea

It's a great converion kit, but for reliable function follow AA's recommendation and use only higher vel. 40gr ammo.
 
Try Police Ordinance in Markham. They arn't a sponsoring dealer so I won't hotlink but you can do a little net research and find them. I think I paid in the neighborhood of $400 for mine. Didn't buy any extra mags so I don't know how much they are.

The AA kit is very good with the right ammo. I have one for my G17 and it is a breeze to install and take down. It really loves Remington Golden Bulelts and CCI Mini-mags.

I really enjoy mine and its saves me some $$$ over shooting it in 9mm.
 
This kit is amazingly fun to shoot. 25$ is the average price for spare mag. I've got mine from sugarfreebob.com for 249$US. It will not fire cheap bulk rounds, you have to stick with high velocity 40grs rounds. Do not expect the same accuracy than a .22 target pistol, but it will help you practice trigger control. Great addition for all Glock fan. I love mine!:dancingbanana:

Actually, Thunderbolts are NOT recommended. Remington Golden Bullets and CCI MiniMags are the only 2 manufacturer recommended bullets. The owner's manual implies other bullets will also work, but the 2 listed above are the only ones mentioned by name.
 
I got one for my G20C from sugarfreebob too. Great site, he's added tons of new stuff in the last few weeks. I use it for shooting speed steel at Mission. I actually came in first using it, last time out. Awesome.
I've just put new Tru-glo Fiberoptic sights on it. I'll have to take some new pics to show how bright they are.

The CCI MiniMags work best in mine although I have not tried the Remington Golden bullets. The CCI Velocitors work pretty good but cost $$$. The CCI Standard velocity work alright if the kit is clean.

Everything else I have tried had lots of FTE and stovepipes.

Anyone tried CCI Blazers?

The Golden Bullets work flawlessly. I made a poor quality youtube vid cycle testing the kit when I first got it with Golden Bullets

Like other kinds of Remington lr ammo I've used, I found them to produce an annoying bit of fouling. Never used MiniMags but've read they're cleaner burning.


I kind of regret selling my AA Kit, it was a pure mission just to find the rare bastard.
Conversion kits, especially good ones, ie advantage arms; cz kadet; sig, are tremendous fun and neat, but some people learn they prefer a dedicated caliber pistol instead, which then makes me regret ever sellling the Buckmark.. >_< ....Re: sig line

Wow! This is a fantastic bit of kit!

Received mine on Tuesday, gave it a quick check and lube and ran out to the range. Only had a box and a half of Remington Golden Bullets, and they went through like [censored] through a goose. :) Not a sneeze, hiccup or anything other than smooth shooting.

Seeing as that was only recommended ammo I had, I figured that something else in the safe should work and took a box of everything out to see what would happen. Heh, more like see what wouldn't happen. The results:

Federal bulk hollowpoint: FTE, FTF. Longest string was three rounds.
Federal Champion: FTE, FTF. Longest string was four rounds.
Federal ?? (copper 40gr bullet): FTE. Longest string was four rounds.
Remington ?? (plain lead bullet): FTE. Longest string was six rounds.
Winchester Super Speed RN: FTE. Longest string was an entire 10 round mag, but it still FTE enough to be frustrating.

I received some more Golden Bullets yesterday, and 100 rounds have gone through perfectly once again. I guess they really did do their homework when it came to the ammo recommendations. :) I now have a few thousand rounds of CCI MiniMags on order, and plan on getting a lot more Remington GB also. :D

Williams Arms in Port Perry has a couple for $415. Stupid question as I am pretty sure I know the answer but just to be 100%, do you require an ATT for this conversion kit?

Thanks. I already have a Glock 17. Very tempting. Seems like a much better deal to order from the States. Just wonder about the wait for something like this considering the border and crossing over gun related products.
 
Hmm, it would appear that I failed to mention that I had received an Advantage Arms conversion kit. I suppose that almost went without saying given their popularity though.

I ordered mine out of the US, and it was in my hands in less than two weeks. It had been opened and inspected by Customs, so either there is no problem with importing these or the officer didn't know there should be. Either way it arrived quickly and painlessly, and I'm having a blast shooting my G17 this cheaply. :)
