Whos got photos of a SW mod 3 stock?

I found a skeleton stock yesterday attached to a S&W first model russian but something looked a little odd to me. The guy had the revolver and the stock listed separately and a dirt cheap price on the stock so I just want to double check.

I cant remember what type of shoulder stocks were available with the SW's and cant seem to find a pic on the net...

...anybody have some pics? Dingus, didnt you have one with stock?
 
yep! there walnut tho and not a frame made of wire.
That was a S&W NM # 3 in 44 R

i traded that gun with the Stock for two Antique SAA Colts ;)
 
If not a smith stock...then what???

This one was a flat steel bent to shape. Quite nice. Kinda similar to ther Merwin Hulbert stock but a little different in shape.
 
...how did the smith and wesson stocks attach? Ive seen the colt version, The Merwin Hulber versionused 2 screw into the grip frame...
 
I believe there were accessory stocks you could buy that weren't made by the gun manufacturer.

The S&W NM # 3 Stocked Guns had a small cut out in the Butt and a hole in the back strap.
The Stock had a big disc type nut that turned on a shaft with a hook that went into the hole in the back strap.

When i screwed up that Nut the gun and stock were Tight like a carbine NO Play at all.
Theres one for sale at GB most of the time just look in Antiques and Type in S&W.

Why dont you post a picture of the stock your trying to Discribe! that might give us a clue eh ;)
