Just a reminder that Heffley Creek Rondyvous starts this coming weekend and runs for 9 days until the following Sunday. I posted a notice in Events section yesterday. It is one hell of a fine rondy for anyone within driving distance of Kamloops BC.

My wife and I had an excellent time at Heffley again this year. Weather was very different from most years; hot the first day or two then turned cool with 1 day of rain in the afternoon and brief showers on a couple of evenings.
Very windy most afternoons and towards the end of the week it must have blown between 30 and 40 mph up near our camp. Overall I preferred the cool weather to blistering hot.
Lots of shooting with some new competitions. The squirrel shoot this year was a combination of a wooden target and a trail with a total of 10 swinging metal squirrels. Also a new trail where we were given a small amount of powder to shoot 10 targets, plus a couple of hawk and knife throws mixed in. I guessed my allotment of powder at 150 grains total (actually 200) and used 10 grains per shot to be on the safe side. Frustrating because with a recessed breach and a 50 cal flinter it took me several shots to realize that I had to tip the gun up vertical and tap it a couple of times before each shot, to get a quick and certain ignition.

On the last evening we had some of the neighbors over for a roast beef dinner; a good time was had by all for the whole week.

Looks like a lot of fun - only thing I can say is, I didn't think they had colour cameras back then!;)

Anyone have an old, or reproduction camera that they bring to the event?
 
He was not there this year, but there is a fellow who takes polaroid photos with a large old style camera on a wooden tripod. The kind with the acordion section to move the lense forward. They come out sepia tone

That looks like a pretty nice way to spend a few days with some good company, thanks for sharing the pic's.

A question though: Do they allow spectators in regular garb?

Vistors are very welcome, regardless of costume. If you live in primitive you are supposed to be in costume and no plastic is supposed to be in view, although you can have it hidden inside the tent. On the other hand visitors are welcome to wander through primitive in modern clothes and obviously visit. Tin town is for the camps and costumes that do not meet the criteria for primitive and there are about 2 tin camps for each primitive one. Everyone mixes at council fire each evening.

The Tipping and Lawden shoots like a hot damn and I used it that morning in the Chiliwack vegetable shoot. I missed some easy shots but pulled of a couple of tough shots in knocking targets back down from on top of the bar they were wrapped around :>)

Will post some photos tomorrow of my wayward dog. The only way that I can see of controling him would be to move to Saskatchewan; then if he ran away, I could still see him for 2 or 3 days (until he was out of sight.) :>)

George aka "two toes" Levesque made it home with me safely and you will be relieved to know that he croaked. He is currently in the living room with 3 of his younger cousins.
