Weatherby Vangaurd Backcountry

You'll probably hear otherwise, but both of mine (and one's a subMOA) are good enough rifles - capable of good accuracy, and a good action. BUT - the triggers are bad enough to be replaced right away if accuracy off the bench means anything. Put in a Rifle Basix and waiting on a Timney for the other. How they could call a rifle subMOA with that POS of a trigger is beyond me - even in a vise it'd be next to impossible. My experiences only, but they're a pretty good rifle other than that, and mine are a tad heavy with the tan rubbery stocks. Add the trigger price to the rifle's and you might as well shoot a Tikka - now that's a nice of work.

Had a chance to handle one of these today.Seem like a reasonably priced mountian type rifle.Any one have any experiances with one??

Are these Production now, or still Custom Shop only? Nice light package for sure at 6.75 lbs and with a 24" barrel! .257Wby would be a good one...

Its 1lb lighter than the regular Vanguard, and weighs the same as a Rem Mountain LSS, but has a 24" barrel...

Probably big $$, as I think its still Custom Shop only...

ive had my 257wby for 2 years. taken mt. goat moose antelope mule deer and a whitetail. mine shoots good but it had to be bedded to shoot the weatherby 1.5moa.

here is my 257 after it did its job at 313yrds.
