I have just reload some 115grs TSX bullets in my model 70 in 25-06 (1-10 twist),and I am getting Keyhole.Had no problem before with 120grs.Grand Slam,or the 110grs ballistic tip and was getting less than one MOA.The groove and crown are OK.
Any idea what is causing this problem with the Barnes TSX.

Thank you

The 115gr tsx is longer than the 120gr grand slam, and likely longer than the ballistic tip discounting the plastic tip(whatever weight it is since there is no 110gr .257"ballistic tip).As such the rifling may not be able to stabilize it.Try the 100gr tsx.

Thanks guys,I will have to try that if I want to use the TSX.
I was very happy with the TSX until now,I am using it in my .300mag and my .270 and had great result with it.

I'd agree with the need for a faster twist. You don't need that heavy a TSX in a 25-06. Try a lighter weight and buy a heavier rifle for moose!

I have similar problems with my M70 25-06 with 115gr TSX. At 50 yards, 3 shots make one small hole, but groups open to 3"-4" at 100.

I have since given up and went with 110gr Accubond. Sub-MOA easy :D

Thanks guys for the info,
I have a lots of guns and reload all of them and never had problems with the one I reload with the TSX.120 grs in my 25-06 was not my firt choice but thats all the store had in stock.
I just spoke with the guys at Barnes and they will duplicate my reload and make some test.I will keep you update.

Thank you

Just received an anwser from Barnes. They asked me what was the elevation I was shooting. Here is their result. So my rifle is not the problem, their bullets are.

I suspect the elevation is the issue, We are shooting them here and they are working fine at that velocity. You can try to get the speed up another 100 fps and it may help but I suspect you may not be able to get it to go even then. The 100 gr TSX may be a better bullet for you.

As has been suggested, try the 100 grain tsx's. I use them in my 25/06 AI and manage sub 1/2 inch groups on occasion, and definitely less than 3/4 inch. Don't ask the twist, because I don't remember off hand:D
