Just wondering if the CPC said anything about previously prohib. psitols/revolvers if they get a majority. any chance of them being restricted again? if so, maybe i should start paying attention to prohibs in the EE.

I doubt it. Harper has already said the firearms laws now on the books are sufficient. That does't sound like he would reverse any of them.

when CPC gets a majority we'll get full auto, suppressors and phase plasma rifles..

just go out, vote, tell your friends to vote CPC..
vote and see what happens.

And this week's "Wishful Thinking" award goes to BBQ Woa!. You can collect your goat at the customer service counter.;)

Keep in mind, that just because Harper says something, doesn't mean he's going to stick to it. He's a politician, its in their nature to lie. Although I'm not holding my breathe for any changes.

I doubt very much if we will ever see full autos again. Harper won't change anything other than the long gun registry. Even doing that would take support away from him.

I would be happy if he allowed 4 inch barrels. That would be a start.

He will scrap long gun registry, but for more, I don't think he is ready to go so far. When law go to some direction, it is pretty hard to return to what it was before that law. Maybe we shall ask Mr Harper to include another modif to C-68 that will make an obligation to review the benefit of that law after another 2 years of test , by a commitee that will let us speak free about our sport?? Who Knows ?

Things would be good if a common sense approach to firearms control was applied. The late Dave Tomlinson of the NFA did a lot of work formulating and outlining this "common sense" and there is no doubt that it would be more effective, cheaper and reasonable than the present ad-hoc OICs and firearms legislation.

The Practical firearms system if I recall. I have it somewhere around here. It consisted of a license with a grid at the back outlining the types of firearms and the purposes of their use. There was long gun, hangun, full auto and on the other axis there was "hunting" "target shooting" "CCW" and "police"

Your local gun club determined if you were qualified... not the government.

Dave was great, taught me a lot.

I will not be voting for Stevo as he has not lived up to his goat giving promise. He was elected moderator based on his ability to source and deliver goats. He has not been able to deliver as many goats as experts had first predicted. Stevo campaign officials state that due to increased fuel costs, as well as the rising cost of farm land in Alberta, not to mention the constant legal battle with the eco-group "goats R people too", which has drained the Stevo's funds over the years.

The AR 15 was restricted a long time ago , then was taken off the restricted list for quite a wile till it went back to restricted so anything is possible but I wouldn't hold your breath . If the long gun registry is shut down it will make it hard for the next Liberal government (And there will be one sooner or later) to bring in semi auto ban because they won't know where they are .

+1

In my dreams he will do away with the 12.6 handgun laws. He could even argue that they aren't valid because the Liberals didn't bring the changes before the House.

I do not want to get caught in making any type of list in case of conservative majority. We have a long way to go before we can say, yes we have majority, anything can happen between now and Oct 14th, however one thing which will make me happy is allowing to use full capacity mags in pistols and rifles. If this can get change and we can shoot AR15 with 30 rounds clip or CZ75 with 17 rounds mag, I will be very happy.
However, I am not trying to think about ...cookie if I don't have a dough... :)

Although many of us recognize that the idea of "good guns" and "bad guns" is a flawed one, I see no reason to expect any government in the near future to dismantle C-68, with the exception of the long gun registry. Neither do I see any reason to expect a change in status of long guns or handguns that are currently restricted or prohibited.

Those changes can only come after a gun friendly government has been in power for a considerable period of time. While I am a Harper supporter, and while I recognize that the Conservative base supports the idea that the federal government should not be intrusive in our daily lives, I think that calling them gun friendly might be a stretch. They are the best option we have though.

Let's start with zero size limitations and full magazines. Then we can think about full-auto and suppressors.
