What do you guys like for tall hunting boots?

Got them yesterday. They are comfortable (haven't hiked 30 k in them or anything like that yet though). Rugged construction. They zip up easily and seem to offer good ankle support. The zipper makes them an easy on and off boot. For a 5k walk in winter they should be great. I got the 800g thinsulate version. They ARE waterproof right to the top.
I think they will do me fine. Besides Cabelas does a pretty good job of standing by their Cabelas branded stuff and will replace broken gear with minimal hassle.

What....did you stand in the tub or something to see if they leaked
How are they for fit? I take an 11 with a sport sock, and am wondering whether I should go with an 11.5 or 12.

Another vote for LaCrosse.
I have had a pair for last 3 seasons and they are as good as the day I bought them.
In cool Fall weather they are perfect.
They are a little warm if your quadding in middle of summer.
Mine have the 1200 grams of Thinsulate.

Ive owned Rockies and find them very uncomfortable boots. I just picked up a pair of Danner Pronghorns (Gortex) from Scheels in the States for a bit over $100 and all I can say is "wow" these people know how to make a great boot!! They feel like Im wearing slippers and they arent even broke in yet.

Meindl, I had Danner Pronhorns that got sold to me that were .5 size too big, so I couldn't break them in right. They felt ok, till I started blistering. The meindl himalaya boots I just bought have memory foam in them, gortex membrane, no insulation but with a good pair of socks they are very warm. Expensive, but can be resoled. They feel like pillows around your feet, with a lot of support of course. With these boots and a pair of gaiters I bet I could go knee deep in a creek without leaks.
Best pair I ever had were a pair of Browning with 1000 gram Thinsulate. Had them for years til they wore out. Spent 2 week straight in them moose hunting no complaints. Cant find them anymore.
Got a pair of Lacrosse Burlys to replace them this year, good so far just sitting in the goose blind. Glad to see the favorable reviews here.

I just bought a pair of Outriders by Irish Setter. I ordered the 600 gram insulated pair - thinking that I can always layer up some woolies if need be. I don't know how water proof they will be, but I like the idea of a side zipper. The standard rubber boots are hell for me to put on and take off.

OBF, I looked at those at Bass Pro. There is actually laces behind that zipper. I really liked the boots, but in the time it took me to get a pair, try them on, walk for 300 seconds then take them off, I had three other shoppers (complete strangers) stop to tell me to avoid them if I wanted a waterproof boot....because they leak like a sieve.

For other alternatives check out gaiters. The are the length you are looking for and the plus side is they save on weight. you know what they say and ounce becomes miles when hiking, here are two that are recommended
