that is the ser. thanks. Also is it normal to have the front sight set quite a bit to one side?
this is where the sight sits sighted at 100m. Is this unusual? mind you once it is set it shouldn't need to be moved

It is possible that the front sight blade needs to be this offset. I've seen worse than that.
Now, something important with Lee Enfields is the "bedding" of the stock. If your rifle has the full military stock (wood allt he way to the front sight), and if your accuracy is behaving weirdly, the bedding may require some work.
If the rifle's accuracy is satisfactory, then enjoy shooting with it...

Yes that too is true, having done 20 years service now I have seen what war does to young men

the accuracy is good. the rifle came to me with the high gloss finish,I will strip it off this winter and bring it back to it's former glory
