I am a dumb a#s... to cheap to go out and buy the buy loctite/blue type, so I use my wife's nail polish to hold my scope rings screws in place.... I put some nail polish on the screws to keep everything in place, now after 6 months I want to remove the scope, I can't budge the screws.... I have tried and tried, now the heads (allen key style) are starting to strip.... Any ideas ??????

Take a Q-tip with Acetone on it and put a few drops on the screw threads that you can see between the ring gap. Let it sit for a few minutes and it will seep into the hole and loosen the nail polish.

Unless your finish is spray paint it will be fine. Acetone is what is used to clean scope lenses.

That true? You try it? No residue? Not remove lens coating? Interesting, will have to look into that.
Well thank you for all your help.... looks like its the nail polish remover that worked... I figure I would try that first...nail polish....nail polish remover....seemed like a no brainer, just sometimes the answer is so obvious you need an outsider to point it out...I put the gun on my bench up side down and placed the nail polish remover on the threads, let sit for half hour and put allen key in and turn, just like everything else, easy once you know how.... thanks again...... singed the big nobb....
