Brinks Changing to autos??

That's a moot point. Those old Model 10's and 64's were outdated back when I did the job from '92 - '95.

Actually, thats EIGHTEEN 92. Semi autos been around a long time. 1911 was a particularly good year, and I would contend that a perfectly good replacement for the revolver has been available since then.

As far as reliability is concerned, either weapon is as reliable as it's maintenance and ammunition.

What Yves says is very typical. Most ACG's aren't pistolero's, they're parents, or paupers, who need a job. They, and the Company, will do the minium pistol training on the assumption that "It is very unlikely that anything will happen".

I, on the other hand, have been on scene of a police murder, within 10 minutes of its occurrence, in a place that could be described as 'Nowheresville'. Somewhere where nothing ever happens. So I KNOW, first hand, that it can, and will, happen completely out of the blue.

Any ACG's thinking otherwise may well be in for a fatal shock.

2 Types of people in the industry

A) The "HERO" types... "nothing is every going to happen to me because..."

and

B) the "Gun Nutz" ... "I'd rather be ready and never have to use it than not be ready if that .00001% ever comes up"

Guess which one I am ;)

ETA for the M&P at my branch is February 09. They were delayed for some reason (we were supposed to start training last month) and The smaller ontario branches are already done switching over. I've got three steak dinners on the line with some of our senior vault staff saying I can outshoot them (I hate the long, gritty 14+ lb pull on the model 10 I carry.)

A few of my co-workers have picked up M&P 40s to get a head start, and once all this wedding hub-bub I'm dealing with gets done and I have some money to burn again, I'll be snagging one for myself (wifey will get her G17)

You can speak the truth and spill some common sense all day. Yet most still don't get it. Bad people kill good people everyday. Today might be your turn. If you carry a gun for a living, I suggest becoming proficient. If you don't carry a gun for a living. Carry one for your own personal protection and become proficient with it.

The comparison I make to my co-workers who think the Company should do all the gun stuff is this:

My daughter did 4 years at University, a counsellors course, and a nurse prescribers course, all at HER cost, so she could work as a psychiatric nurse drug and alcohol rehab councellor. FOUR years hard work.

They just seem content to moan about what the company doesn't do, when it's their life on the line every day.

Unreal.

I have a strong interest in a carrer change and have been thinking about a career with Brinks Canada,I found the wage structure online and was quite surprised as to how small the income really is. Considering the repsonsiblities and the fact that you are basically a "bulletcatcher" protecting hundreds of thousands of dollars in todays very poor economy that worsens daily! I have talked to a few guards and they all highly recommend a career with Brinks, they stressed career!

In my opinion these guards should be setup and trained with UZI's.;)

I understand that it will be 10 rounds only...at least that'll give guards access to 30 rounds rather than 18...

MET, you may find that OT will bump up your salary considerably, depending on area. There's a high turnover.

Here in Kebekistan, we are stock with 10...and we dont have the right to top the mag. So it is 9 + 1 in the chambers and two other with 10 rounds

Go figure....

Yves

know that Sir, »But Kebekistan CFO wont allowed us to carry 10 + 1, I know I work for an armored car cie in here. Stupid?? Yes »But it only Happen in QC

I passed a couple of Garda? guys on my way to work, and they were packing semis. They looked like M&Ps, but only had a quick look so can't be sure.

Probably Safariland rigs... that way the leather belts can all be re-used. I'm praying they don't stick us with that crappy Uncle Mike's garbage.

Not sure about other branches, but at least for mine, if we get the OK from the Manager and head trainer, we can run what we feel most comfortable with, provided it meets retention standards (Level @ Retention at the minimum, that's how I roll.) All but a small number of our in-shop who are armed (managers, supervisors, vault staff) run around with a mish-mash of various paddle holsters (some UM, some safariland, one guy has a real slick Kydex rig, looks like a Blade Tech) but are properly rigged on the street.

:(
A word of caution you don't want to work a |||BRINKS it's all smoke and
mirrors. The pays is good only if you are there for a while and if you are full
time. The trucks are not up to MTO standards and management they hate
union employees and so much more. i know i have been at brinks for more then 10 years

Garda are carrying HK P2000 in 9MM with LEM trigger. We are the one force by CFO to carry 9+1 in the first mag.....

Yves

Only a fool would carry their pistol under capacity. Policy or not, its your life on the line. Personally I'd source some 13 round mags and roll hard, but thats just me.
