Cheap Scale can they be right for powder weighting...

The only way to trust these is to make sure you check them every time you turn them on with calibrated weights.

my 2 cents,

Lou

Looks OK, resolution is decent.

But the note about the "crystal clear windshield" sort of caught my eye.

Personaly, I'd spend the $140 and get a lee or RCBS.

Cabela's Canada has several inexpensive digital scales in their catalog. To be honest, the use of anything that could cause an error in powder measurements scares me. I wouldn't trust a cheap digital scale. Seems to me there are enough threads on here about people finding them finicky to deter me. I recently bought an RCBS 5-0-5 and the simplicity of it leads me to trust it to be accurate and consistent.

Look farther on the web - an Acculab can be had for $40 US, not much different than a set of any standard balance beam scales. And don't forget a mid and upper end calibration weight. Lots of the new ones have a self-calibration mode. Doesn't matter - you NEED check weights.

my bonanza scale was 20 bucks, and it's just as accurate as the ohaus 505, both on the check weights and the powder charges-

bonanza is all plastic with metal pointers- you may know it as pacific, which evolved into hornady- they used to make a whole line of reloading equipment- and had nothing to do with the cartwrights

I have an RCBS Chargemaster Combo, and I do like it very much, as it is quick and handy. However, as some have opined, Electronics can have an effect on one, particularly if they have ever failed to read/weigh properly. I always check the first couple of loads out of mine with either my RCBS 10-10 or 304. These balance scales are the epitome of dependability, and they say it is OK, it is. Calibration of electronic scales is a must. Regards, Eagleye.

Several things happen with cheap digital scales: The zero drifts while you are using it, they often take a long time to "settle" when you weigh something, say 3 to 4 seconds, and they can be sensitive to electromagnetic interference.

Do yourself a favour, either get a decent digital scale, or a mechanical balance. Also as noted above, check weights are a MUST if you use a digital scale.
