Hi guys,

I'm looking to pick up a 10mm but I haven't a clue as to which one:confused:. I've read through some threads and found out some models (DW, S&W, Colt, Tangs and so on). I'm not sure but is there a model that is double stacked?

I'm looking for, reliability, accuracy and bang for the buck. I would like to have your suggestions on which model and why.

Thanks a lot.

Sounds like your quest would be answered with a Glock 20.... ;)

The G20C + a Stormlake non-ported .40cal barrel (and a bunch of cool aftermarket parts) answered all my prayers.

^Yep, since he didn't say he'd like the gun to be ergonomic too :D

I actually amost bought one myself... then I handled one; it just felt wrong. I will reconsider though if they make SF version of a G20.

btw you missed Kimber in your list.

A truly fine cartridge.

10MM will do just about anything. You can load it up or down. Shoot bowling pins, target work or hunt with it.
In my opinion, the only true platform that will take everything the 10mm can dish out, and more, is the Glock 20.
Its so good that they even make a compact version of the G20.
Really.

I never owned a Glock, never shoot one...Handle some , but I am too much in the all steel. But , If I think I will be giving a good try of a G20SF. Had a Delta Elite, but sold it to finance other project :)

Best Handgun cartridge period!

G'day

Glad to see you wanting to get on board with the 10mm crowd. I bought a G20 this spring, and it's pretty much the only handgun I use every week. All the others are pretty much becoming safe queens.

If I had a choice, I would also get a S&W 1006. I have a 4506 and it's built like a tank. When I can afford one, I'll be getting a 1006, until then I can just and drool.

When I got my G20 and fired some hot reloads the first time, it was truely amazing. Like an orgsm with a trigger.

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Don't tell my wife)

LOL

Hey guys,

Thanks for the suggestions. As for the Glock, not disrespecting it in anyway but I handled one in a 9 and 45. To telll you the truth, it did not feel comfortable in my hand. I do have an XD9 and a TRP (never a hiccup what so ever in either one). I think I'm more inclined to a steel gun.

I was wondering if I could convert my Tanfoglio LC 40 into a 10mm? What would I need to do or is it just economically easier to buy one?

unless your Tanfoglio is a LARGE frame, then converting it from the .40S&W to 10mm is not possible. i have the large frame Tanfoglio and it is nice. in addition, you only lose one round of mag capacity too.

I suggest anything in a 1911 style frame. I like 5 inches of barrel for this puppy and I think the 1911 style of frame support is best for that caliber. My dream would be to get a 10mm 1911 Long Slide.

.40S&W/10mm & 10mm/.40S&W......

I picked up a new Bar-Sto 10 mm barrel and bushing in the States for $110 off another forum and shipped it and my P16-40 to Gunnar who fit the barrel. I now have a switch barrel 40/10.

Interesting, I went the other way.... I had Gunnar fit a Para .40 S&W barrel to my blued Colt Delta Elite 10mm. Now I can take advantage of the "free" .40 S&W brass laying all around our local ranges after the municipal cops practice.

Was shooting it this afternoon.... flawless!

If you don't like the way the glock feels, you really won't like the feel of the smiths. Although I haven't fired one I handled a DW Razorback and it looked really well built. That would be my vote. (I currently own a DE and have previously owned a G20).
