A little Krink goodness. (With a few new pics)

58 is milled and AK is 1-1.5mm thick belt sheet metal held together with rivets. To each his own. The Gremlin is on the 858, by and large. The 58 Defender is like this...

Lucky Bastage...how did that micro work? Are the mount and receiver cover solid..or is there a bit of wobble?

Damn...lucky bastage!!!!

The receiver cover is hinged at the front. Jim built it, there's no wobble. I gave it the first cleaning it had in 7k of mostly corrosive ammo, and it hadn't missed a beat in all that.

looks like fun . how much ?

It's not cheap. But if you're looking for quality training, it never is.

Oh God. I wish I could get one of Jim Fuller's anythings.
Do you think he'll ever work on a VZ?

Jim has a VZ kit he's going to build into a dealer-sample FA gun when he gets the time.

Then you and Stevo are both bastages!

What was it like? Impressions? How does it compare to the VZ58?

The AKS-74U isn't really comparable to the VZ. A better comparison would be Jim's FA AK-74 that I also shot. It's a beautiful rifle with virtually no recoil and extremely controllable in full-auto.

Note, it's not a "brake" on the -74U. The muzzle device is a booster to trap gas, fooling the gas system into thinking it's a longer barrel. It's increases the reliability. I was partnered with Jim in our two-day Fighting Rifle class. One of the drills had me shooting from the knee with Jim shooting from standing right over me. Each shot damn near made my brain rattle. It's a nasty little gun and I love it.

Getting to spend the last 5 days shooting and working on AKs with Jim Fuller has been an amazing experience.

Thanks for the response. I will fire an 74U one day...It's gotta happen....Vegas maybe?

P.S. I know a little something about gas boosters.....here's mine (Type 97 shorty)...I believe Deckard calls it a Norinkov;)

With my H1 Micro...

The best comparison is VZ-58 and the original milled AK-47.

The muzzle attachment does help the gas system, but only to a degree, and somewhat less so in the Bulgarian design shown. Mostly the expansion chamber lets the gas expand so that the powder burns within and not in the atmosphere, creating a huge fireball. That would be a terrible thing in combat, showing the enemy where you are and ruining night vision. The Bulgarian design is somewhat of a suppressor as well to keep the noise down. So, the attachment does many things.

From standing/kneeling/shooting right beside the Bulgarian and Russian style muzzle devices, I couldn't notice any difference in volume.

Yes, internet gurus, AK's do malfunction. So transition to your pistol:

Well gee, Stevo, you could just outline the full cost and not be so cyptic.

Oh, I'm so sorry I didn't lay out every piece of info you needed, Deckard. You could have read the course description on the Tactical Response website if you had the inclination.
