recently purchase a 2006 ruger m77, removing the sights because i have a leupold 3x9 on, and cant seem to figure out how to remove the front sight? there seems to be a small hole, resembling a allen key bolt hole minus the octagonal edges, the hole has a ball that seems spring loade?

Thanks in advance.

+1...Why take it off so you can lose it later and then try to sell the rifle missing parts? It doesn't interfere with the scope so I personally think that taking it off would be foolish.

But if you really want to, push that spring loaded plunger in the front sight down and slide the post portion of the sight out to the front. Then lose same and you can have as rifle with a sight base but no sight. Then order a replacement from NECG and you'll be right back where you started but your wallet will be $100 lighter.

.......... besides the fact that Ruger makes the nicest looking factory sights out there.

.

the front sight is being stubborn, almost like it isnt removable? it looks like it is, but i dont wanna force it as i have a sale pending. slow and steady

The blade is removable, the barrel band base is not. If you take the blade off the base, the rifle looks like something is missing, it does not produce the cleaner lines you are looking for. Kind of interesting in that here's a guy who wants to get rid the Ruger front sight while I spent good money having them installed on a couple of expensive custom rifles.
