I went out and bought an 870 super mag from wholesale sports the other day. Took it out skeet shooting, everything was going fine. I was shooting cheap federal 2 3/4 inch skeet loads (the ones you buy at crappy tire for 24 for 100). when all of a sudden i couldnt get the shells to load from the tube. The long metal tab piece inside of the reciever the holds the shells in the tube or lets them come out (Theres two of them the one acting up is on the oposite side of the ejection port) somehow came out of its slot and jammed and would not go back into its slot in the reciever. I Had to take the gun apart and put it back into place. I then pumped about 5 shells through the gun and though the problem was fixed when it did it again! Could the 2 3/4 inch shells be causing this? Cam i take it back to wholesale for a new one or how do I get warranty? Any help or tips would be great guys, I bought a remington on the dependable repution and this has me very dissapointed.

I don't think the shells are causing the problem. Normally the two pins that hold in the trigger group do a good job of holding the shell stops. Sounds like you need to have the stops re staked. Easy job to do it your self. Use one of the pins to postion the shell stop in place. A ball peen hammer and a sharp slot screw driver will upset enough material to anchor the stop. Look for the place that Remington staked it in the first place and work from there. That should solve your problem.

cheers Darryl

Easy job or not , take it back. If you mess with it and it dosen't fix the problem, you may be SOL when it comes to warrantee coverage. Take it back , it should be no problem to get it fixed.

i wonder if wholesale will exchange it for a new one, i need it for goose season and dont want it gone to the factory for a month. anyone had any experience with wholesale sports

It doesn't work now, you can't use it for goose season, so take it back. Why speculate on how bad you will be treated. Take it back, and if you have a bad experience let us know. You may be surprised how easy it goes. You made a substantial purchase and it has a problem, so you want a new one , not something that is repaired. If they want your business they will do you right. Good luck.

The supermags seem to be nothing but problems. I bought one a couple months ago and it came with a really piss poor chamber ream. Lots of machine marks in the chamber. Might aswell run the reamer backwards. I took it back and walked out with a Supernova and have now sworn off Remington for good.

ive had mine for a few years and ive put it through hell and back and ive never had any problems. maybe the new ones are junk?

Take the gun back to WSS. Even though it is a warranty problem, WSS often will exchange the gun if it failed to function on its first outing. Even though the fix may seem easy do not make any attempt before you try your return or exchange.

Its the barrel forsure. I had the same problem with mine, Try honing the forcing cone with steel wool or emery cloth wrapped around a 12ga. brush and clean rod "Use with a drill".

It is NOT the barrel forsure! Read the original post. Although rough chambers are a well known and frequent occurance with the express guns, the complaint involves a whole different set of mechanics. Read the post again. It would be best to return the gun for an exchange without tampering with it.

I would expect them to exchange it, however I would expect them not to exchange it if there is evidence that you tried to grind or polish or alter the gun as some posters advised.

My bad sorry. Sounds like your shell latch was not staked properly. Its an easy fix and if you live near Petawawa I'll do it for free:) "I have the staking tool and am qualified to do it" If not bring it back!

exchanged it in edmonton after ALOT of hastle with the salesman and then the manager. They told me it needed to be shot more and had to break in. I said it already was BROKEN-in! They then said it wasnt they're problem and that i had to send it back to remmington for warranty. I said like hell i need it now not in six months. I HATE wholesale sports, and have never been treated so disrespectfully before, they were acting like i was trying to rip them off. The gun was only 3 days old! From now on im avoiding wholesale sports like the plague, hopefully the new gun works right so i dont have to go back.

Glad you exchanged it instead of listening to one of those who would have you polish and drill and restake. Good luck with your new gun and good hunting!
