Got myself a Bell and Carlson Medaillist stock. I ordered a 2960 for a REM 700 BDL LA.

My gun is a 300 RUM REM 700 XCR. The action and barrell doesn't fit at all.

I am in the process the open up the bbl channel. I doing it with 220 grit sandpaper a ratchet box.

Is there a better way and more important, a faster way to contour the barrel channel ?

Wooden dowel wrapped with sand paper. The B&C comes with a channel for a sporter contour, standard barrel like a .270 or .30-06. They need to be opened for a magnum barrel.
 
It is very long to do. With sandpaper. I'm at 50% finnished but it is a pain in the a.. to do.

I think BC make another model for the mag barrel contour but I wasn't sure when I ordered.

I have never seen a Bell and Carlson stock that fit anywhere close... they are relatively easy to inlet though, you can probably do it with a spoon and scrape away... take lots out and then fill it up with glass bedding compound... :D

was it the adjustable model?

I would do it with a sanding drum in a die grinder get a 1" drum and would make it real uniform.
 
Wooden dowel wrapped with 40 grit first,then 100 grit to finish it off. If you cant find any 40 grit go to the local auto body shop and ask them if you can buy a strip that is made for a air board...it will take it down real fast...

It is the sporter style model Medallist in natural gear finish. I ordered from www.rifle-accuracy.com and it only took 4 weeks to come by.

Beside that the bbl channel was weeks away from the right contour, the stock is great. Heavier than the cheap REM one, it will tame that 300 RUM just enough. No flex anywere.
