I think I may be a gunaholic. I was at Walmart (I know I know) the other day and noticed they had a really good deal on .308 Winchester ammo, 180gr Silvertips. They were priced at $17.xx a box. So I asked the kid if that price is right and he said yes. So I took two boxes. I almost wish I bought 4 or 5 more boxes because the price was so good. In fact, I am thinking of going back and buying more.

The problem is that I don't even own a .308 Winchester. But I guess one needs look no further than the definition of a "great deal" - something you don't need at a price you can't resist.

Do any of you have impulses like this?

Yeah, its like buying dies and brass for a rifle you don't own, cause you never know when you might pick one up at a bargain.:)

Good news for you is the .308 is available from almost every manufacturer, and in every config you can think of...

I've done that too!
That is one of the main reasons I don't go to gun shows any more.

It's nice to know I'm not the only one afflicted with this madness.

I own dies, brass, and ammo in calibers that I don't own firearms for .I figure it's a perfectly normal thing to do.
In some cases they are calibers that I used to own, and in others they are for calibers that I will own, or any combination of the two.

You may not have a 308win, but you now have tradeing goods. You can easily trade thos cartridges for others you can use or for a decent sling or, or.

I bought 17HMR ammo at Wal-Mart long before I ever bought a 17HMR rifle because of the price. I always figured that I would buy the rifle sooner or later. I couldn't resist the price of the ammo. Besides, it was on sale. Since when does ammunition go on sale? I thought I was dreaming.

We should set up a help link for our wives to call so they can be told we are in control still.
I bought a shell holder for my 32-20 and 25 Remington on the weekend. I couldn't remember if I had one that worked or not so I got more anyway. Am I going to be okay?

What are we going to do!!!!!!!!!!

LOL! My wife asked, "Don't you have some of those already?":slap:

Thank God she is a loving and caring woman. I love her.

I think they go through several stages.

1st: Okay, it's his new hobby, how much could it possibly cost, let him have fun.....

2nd: Cold front.... clearly annoyed and give a huge sigh when you ask to get another gun.

3rd. Mean, you give up on saying "this is your gun honey" cuz they quit believing it.:slap:. You are received with a sigh, groan or heavy foot steps leaving the room.

4th-10th Pretty much the same as the 3rd except for the comment " where is the money coming from to pay for this???????:p

11th to 28th (approx) same as before but more heated discussion.:slap::slap:

If you are still alive at 29, they go into this denial stage and are almost completely apathetic. You are good to go. Just don't expect hugs and kisses when the post office parcel note comes in the mail.:p

There is no rhyme or reason to how fast one spouse will go through all the stages. Some are lucky and have them join in. Some are lucky they don't have any interest at all so they can enjoy a bit of peace alone.;);)

I have been blessed with a very forgiving wife. Mind you I do remind her she is welcome to dive headlong into something she enjoys just as much. It's a hard passion to slow down on when it has been so much fun for 87.5% of your life! There is no end in sight!:runaway:

Hi everyone...my name is beef, and I am a Gunaholic.
I've seen my addiction affect me negatively in the following ways.

My bank account is always empty.
I have persistent thoughts of hunting.
I can never get enough ammo to shoot
etc. etc.
I am entering a twelve step program. Well
actually its 6 steps to the target and 6 steps
back to the firing line...hence 12 steps.

I'm glad that I am not alone..we will get through
this addiction together.(unless the Liberal's win):p

If in a few years you sell this ammo at a gun show for $10, you have a problem...:D

I think your husband will understand.

If my wife "saves" any more money I will be broke.

Most marreid men have given up trying to figure out the female shopping logic.

But now you know what to buy him for Chreistmas. It would be a shame to waste that ammo.

Haha I hear ya loud and clear.

I bought my first scope before I had a gun to put it on...

I bought .223 Rem ammo... before I had a gun to fire it.

I bought another scope... before I bought the gun in .223 Rem it was to be mounted on to shoot the aforementioned ammo...

Feel better? ;)
