Im looking to buy a new rifle barrel. im looking for a barrel maker in Ontario that can accommodate my needs for a 300 whisper.
does anyone know of one in Ontario?

I have been digging and haven’t found one yet, most smiths around here don’t fabricate barrels as what i have found so far.

Thank you.
Roy

The barrel you are looking for would be a .30 caliber barrel. Your gunsmith would be to one that makes it into a .300 Whisper by chambering it.
Rob McLennen is the only barrel maker in Ontario that I know of.

PM sent.

What's magic about Ontario? Why not order it from a top-notch maker like Ron Smith or Ted Gaillard? I'm not familiar with McLennan's or McPhee's work so I can't comment but I do have an RKS and a Gaillard and thing they're great. Hell, planes full of mail go back and forth every day...no good reason not to order one!

If I was to take a guess I would say McLennen barrels are on about 50-60% of the target rifles in Ontario. Not sure how many Benchrest shooters in Ontario use them but Rob is a benchrest shooter. That being said I have had 2 of Rob's barrels on my rifles, one was very good, the other make a good tomato stake. I have switched to Bartlein barrels for my last barrel and find them very accurate.

All of the makers above have reputations for top quality barrels. I've owned both Smith and Gaillard barrels and I've shot a .220 Swift with a McLennan barrel that was very accurate, but you can't go wrong with any of them. Because you have chosen the .300 Whisper, be sure top get a fast twist barrel if you intend to follow the trans-sonic/sub-sonic loads. I think your barrel should be short and a 1:7 or 1:8 twist would be about right. Lapua is the only manufacturer I am aware of who makes a jacketed .30 caliber bullet specifically for sub sonic work.
