im thinking about the CZ 550 Safari as im interested in a big boar high powered rifle cahmbered in .375 H&H Mag....

does anyone own or kno anyone who owns one of these rifles?

any comments or thoughts welcome....

I got one and it went to Africa with me..... love it....

Holds a full 5 rounds and 1 in the chamber. Has safari sights and I put on Warne quick detach scope mounts.

The only thing that I didn't like was the bolt handle. But that's just me.

Seriously ..... They usually get good reviews. I've owned a couple of the older predecessors to the 550. They are accurate, but be prepared for a heavy rifle.

BTW .... The 375s are generally known a a medium bore. The big bore status doesn't kick in till after 40cal.

.

I've got a couple 550 Magnums, one .375 H&H and one .416 Rigby. Between the 2 of them I've managed to take game from steinbuck to elephant. There is a certain appeal to big guns that shoot so well, yet are cheap enough that if the airlines were to lose them you could shrug and get another.

I have a CZ 550 in 416 Rigby. Nice rifle: good to great fit and finish, accurate, classic Mauser 98 action, nice wood.

Bolt was a little stiff when I first got it. Got a few rounds down the tube now and it's pretty slick.

I definitely recommend CZ 550 Magnums.

I had the opportunity today while at the range to take a good look at one in 375 H&H. I was impressed!
I spotted while the owner shot and was equally impressed with the 1 inch group. Schmidt and Bender scope to boot...

what are crossbolts:confused:

A bolt, through the wooden stock to prevent splitting or at least hold the pieces together if it does. This isn't much of a picture, but you can see the added bolt. There is a factory one through the wrist already, but the most common locations are behind the recoil lug and behind the magazine cut-out.
