9mm AR's... good or bad ?

For indoor use (50m), I find it a shame to spend precious .223 rounds, even reloads (and especially reloads, with 2 young kids, my free time is precious). I'm thinking I woud be happier at my indoor range with a 9mm shorty carbine.

So I want to build a 9mm AR (10.5"), but a buddy shooter (a very experienced and knowledgeable competitive shooter) told me that he sold his Colt 9mm (16") because he was very disappointed with the accuracy.

Is this a general theme among 9mm ARs or did he just had a lemon ?

for 50ms and just doin some fun plinking dude go with the AR i had the chance to fire one and they are very nice + like u said the ammo is much cheaper

The accuracy of my 9mm AR has been fine at 50 yards. Haven't shot it a longer distances.

There seems to be a trend on CGN of people not liking their Colt 9mm carbines. Granted, not all owners are unhappy (squeaky wheel situation). But, I've noticed fewer complaints about RRA.

10.5" colt nine, that i,ve had the chance to shoot........plates out to 100yds. No problems. Indoor, like a target rifle.

I have a colt 9mm 10.5" barrel and i LOVE it

I can hit clays out at 100 meters without a rest Ive never had any problems with mine (except i wore out the trigger group and broke a bolt catch)

I run 115grn JHP handloads

I had an Oly 9mm K9GL as well. They seem to have issues with soft fire control parts. Change them out and you've got a fun gun with cheap mags.

Have not seen that issue yet, but the upper receiver had to be changed because of out of spec rails and offcenter barrel extension hole. Now it's a blast to shoot, only reason I bought it was for the 10 round mags, but now that RRA has 10 round capability I would go for that.

I've been running my RRA for about 2 years now. I have a 7.5 inch barrel and use 124grain handloads and can generate good accuracy out to 100 yards. Mine has seen about 5000 rounds and has yet to be cleaned, I just keep the bolt group well oiled. For sure it's not a tact driver but they sure are fun as hell to shoot. The kids love it so does the ladies. I can blast avay with it all day and still keep my ammo bill under 200$ for a full day at the range.... now that is a nice change from shooting the 50........

I have an RRA 10.5 inch 9mm, its a great gun and probably the one I shoot the most now.

I ran about 700ish rounds through it without cleaning (just putting CLP on it before firing every 150-200 round range session) just to see how much it would go before having problems. After about 700 rounds it choked (one FTE) with quite the carbon/CLP slurry in her:D.

It even fed lead semi-wadcutters without a problem.

I clean it about every 400 rounds now.
