257 wby mag ultra lite

210 bucks, someone is totally ripping you off??? If you are planning on shooting 10 or more boxes of ammo through it in a month, then I would not get a 257. They are overbore and quickly heat up. It won't take long to burn out that barrel at that rate. The 257 is an awesome hunting round, but its not a awesome range rifle, if you plan on doing a lot of shooting. 3 rounds and the barrel it hot and then you need to wait 20 minutes for it to cool.

At 1600 bucks, burning a barrel out would suck. Burning out a barrel on a 499.00 Vanguard, wouldn't be that big of a deal....

Truthfully a 270 Win will do everything a 257 Mag will and probably more, due to heavier bullet weights... Though its not as cool as the 257 Wby

I'd get a Sauer from P&D for a similar price. Or a Sako.

I had a .257 Wby and it is an awesome cartridge. You can form them from 7mm RM brass or .264 Win Mag, which is much more cost efficient than getting original brass.

On the other hand, you gain very little, practically speaking, with the .257 over a .25-06; I know the paper advantage, but it is not a significant advantage on game. Because of that I don't think I'd get the Wby again.

get the new B&C stocked Vanguard and spend the extra on a Timney trigger and good glass......if you don't reload get the 7mm Rem Mag in the same rifle.......if you do get into reloading later, load 120 gr TSX's bullets in the 7Mag...and there's your 257 Wtby....

I have a 7mm mg in a tikka t3 and a sendero. Maybe ill spend more time with them lol.

Take a look at the 140gr Accubond or Partition. With stout loads in your Sendero it will shoot flatter than the 100gr in the .257 Wby. That is one of the reasons I ended up selling the .257 Wby - my 7mm RMs give me just as flat trajectory with a little more oomph when it gets there, and the recoil while more, is not really that bad.
