Any retired British REME types here?

That was the source for most of the ones running around Western Canada. They were sold off in two lots, one lot which was supposed to be scrapped ended up being sold individually by a guy in Regina. There ended up being an RCMP (and later a MP) investigation into those carriers. The other lot went to General scrap in Regina, where a few found there way to museums and various collections. Many of them ended up being bought for range targets in Dundurn and Cold lake.

Funny you should mention Regina. It is a small world indeed. Sometime between 1992 and 1995 I answered a phone call at the Recruiting Centre in Regina.

'How much does an APC weigh?'
'Hmm. About 12 tons I guess. Give me your number and I'll call you tomorrow.'

The next day I called back with the weights, and the AFV Profiles (who remembers them?) steel composition statement. The guy thanked me. Never heard until reading this exchange. Makes sense that some would leak out of the IPSCO Steel yard.

Can't wait to see the final refurbished big toy. So what's next on the shopping list? FV433 Abbot?

I'm heading to the sandbox for a bit, but will have internet access. Once you get it in the barn, I can pass on a few tips to keeping the Brit stuff rolling.

Thanks very much! I hope I can still pull this off, as the other party I was working with, that was planning to purchase "something" of mine for "very big bucks" is starting to pull my chain now. Hopfully by this time next week, I will get a firm reply, one way or the other..
