Ok, so I'm fire forming some .303 epps improved brass. I have two options cording to the info I have. Cast with down sized loads, or full factory (wastefull)

so I broke even and loaded up some .303 with 174grns and starting load.

Insta epps brass.

Spec in book on epps dimensions calls for Over all case length to be 2.17" and neck length to be .290"

all my fire formed brass came in at an over all case length of 2,195 (so a case length longer than spec)

and a neck length of .245 (so a case length shorter than spec)

How the hell is this possible and is this ok? Maybe the reaming job was flawed any thoughts....

Fireforming

I have found that using 'full-house" loads, the cases are more uniformly formed. All the .303 cases are still under length after fire-forming. Using 30-40 Krag brass requires trimming. H-4350, and Federal 215's have produced the most accurate loads. Rifle is a 1950's BSA sporterized Winchester P-14, I used a friends Clymer reamer. Case life so far is excellent, some brass being fired 4 times. shows no signs of separation, or excessive length after firing. Chronographed loads are:
"01" IVI brass-180 Rem. RN- 2732fps, 2726fps
Win. 30-40 brass- Hornady 174 RN-2715, 2789,2766,2783fps.
These velocities are edging close to 30-06 performance. Where the .303 Epps would really shine is with 215 grain bullets, but I can't seem to find any Woodleigh or Rhino products.Good luck on your Epps!
