G36 trigger, help!

For anyone who has a real G36, do you have a picture of the operatos manual that will show the trigger group. I have a 2 position (0,1) G36 trigger in an SL8 stock and it works fine (fire and safe), but I have a piece left that I cannot find a place for. :confused:

I found a manual on line. The part is called the actuator. The pic in the manual shows that it goes in between the bolt catch and hammer, but there is no space for it in the SL8 stock. Is this part for a full auto only?

Just off the top of my head but I'm sure it's for the fullauto operation. The Catch holds the hammer until the bolt carrier comes forward and trips it.
No worries you don't need it.

Yup, it sure looks like the "safety catch/sear". The SL8 doesn't have the same part.
 
If you have G36 lower, this "catch" rides on the front axle, called appropriately the catch axle

You cannot use this part if you do not have a G36 bolt so I wouldn't bother with it

This part is often called incorrectly the auto sear. This part will not allow you fully auto fire but rather catches the hammer after it starts falling when the fire control is set to semi, 2rd burst of auto. It then re releases the hammer after the bolt closes completely. IF the sear is not in positon to recatch the hammer ( in burst or full auto ) it continues on to strike the primer

It actually does "catch" the hammer even in semi auto mode. It just releases it and it is recaught by the sear in semi mode. This is why its included in the G36 FBI lower ( 0,1 ) trigger group.

Having said that, it wouldn't worry about not having it installed because the likelyhood of you being able to reset and pull the trigger again BEFORE the bolt is in battery is ZERO. So in effect the sear will catch the hammer every time by the time the bolt is closed in semi

This part prevents slam firing or the opposite, light primer strikes in burst or auto. A G36 will fire 2rd / auto without this part. Just not a good idea

There is zero benefit of the G36 trigger group. If anything, its heavier than the generally good crisp trigger pull of the SL-8. The exception to that rule is the rare "sniper ( God I hate that term ) " pistol grip lower, where it is as good as the SL-8 trigger

For people who want to modify the SL-8 to look kinda like a G-36, one of the methods is using a "stock block adapter" like the HDPS unit and a G36 pistol grip ( lower ). So people aren't putting in G-36 FCG into a SL-8 but rather they are using a G-36 pistol grip lower on the SL-8, hence you end up with the surplus "catch"

Problem is most of the G36 lowers are select fire ( exception the FBI ), so you really should pull the SL-8 trigger group out and install in the G-36 pistol grip. Problem is the S F etc markings don't line up to the SL-8 selector

Using a pistol grip from a select fire, even with the SL-8 FCG installed just screams arrest me. Its very noticable
 
Getting replacement parts takes forever and delivery dates are vague. So I pick up spare parts when I find them. Even if it is covered under warranty, do you really want to wait for the parts to come in? At least I can still use it untill they do.

If you price a new/used SL8 trigger, it will run about $250+. The FBI G36 trigger cost me $95.

The FBI trigger internals has fewer parts and still functions properly in an SL8.

FBI trigger: 18 parts (not including doubles) $95
SL8 trigger: 23 parts (not including doubles) $250

As for the trigger pull, if you want it lighter all you need to do is swap out the #8 trigger spring part #205422 and install #61 elbow spring Part #217918.

L.C.F.? :mad: it has nothing to do with that. To me its more economical to get the FBI trigger.

Oh ya, BTW, yes you can see the trigger group. It is externally different than the SL8.

OK. I'll retract that statement. But this is only the internals. The rest of the SL8 is for the LCF.
