I see "rifle only season" and absolutely no mention of bow or archery

The fact that you are hunting in a rifle season with a bow means you need to wear the clothing....not as clear as it could be but that's the way it reads to me. Basically, the only time there is a clothing exemption is during an archery season....not a rifle season.
 
Was this during the rifle season or were they hunting during the muzzleloader season?
There are no combined seasons for mule deer in SK. But having said that, it is legal to hunt with archery in either the muzzleloader or rifle seasons, or hunt with muzzleloaders in the rifle season.
If the archer was hunting in the rifle season with a bow he was required to be wearing safety colours.

We have a shady CO here, only got transfered in last yar and thinks he can play by and make his own rules. so far I know of two times hes been called out and both times he's been in the wrong.

I read "rifle only" as it is written, literally rifle only.
I read Rifle, Muzzleloader and Archery as is written literally.

If indeed you are interpreting correct, then you are saying that "rifle only" includes archery, which it does not.

The clothing statement says "rifle only" season. There are Rifle only seasons, Archery only seasons, Muzzleloader season and shotgun seasons. and combined Rifle, bow, and muzzleloader seasons.

It does not say that when hunting in an archery only season, blaze is not required, which would show the exception.
It only makes reference to one season and the blaze requirement, and that is the "rifle only" season. A rifle and Bow season, is not rifle only.

Your interpretation may be what they meant, or it may not be.
As the reg stands now, there'd be no case against a bow hunter in camo in a Rifle and Archery season.

If what you have interpreted is right, they should be slapped for not simply saying

"All bow hunters must wear blaze when hunting in an open rifle season"

Interpret any way you like but the fact is...you can hunt with a bow in a rifle-only season but you must wear hunter colours........you do love to argue don't you........I'm done with this nonsense now!

I read your link, very good one by the way, but I did not see anything that referred to safety colrs and rifle and bow seasons

What you are calling non sense, is a very legitimate arguement.
I am not argueing with you, just pointing out what it does and does not say

The Ontario regs below read completely different

Hunter Orange
The objective of the hunter orange regulation is to maximize
hunter safety without negatively impacting hunting success.
Under this regulation, all licensed hunters, including
bow hunters, hunting during the gun season for deer and
moose, are required to wear hunter orange.

Are the bow hunters hunting for deer or "other" species during the gun season for deer and moose?. just want to clarify, cause I dont think the two ( bow and gun) over lap during the same period.

Yes, you are wrong.
If you check the bow season chart, it shows a gap for the rifle season. However, if you check the rifle season chart, at the top, it states quite clearly, that you may use Bows, or muzzle loaders, in addition to regular firearms, during the seasons indicated by the chart, as long as you abide by the conditions, which include wearing hunter orange, regardless of your choice of firearm, or bow, while the regular gun season is open.

Unless I am mistaken the Hunters Guide used to address the issue of colours durring rifle season by those using bows or MZ's. It stated that those hunting in rifle season must meet the colour requirements of that season. Remember the Guide is only that ,a guide , and not the official regulations. Few hunters would take the time or have the legal literacy to fully understanad the actual Act. Just because this years guide says nothing about the issue doesn't mean squat. If you are really concerned about this phone the Department and ask for clarification.

As a former Saskatchewan resident and long term hunter in Saskatchewan,I agree with Sheephunter's interpretation 100%.You may in fact hunt with a bow or muzzleloader during the regular rifle season,but the color regulations apply to all big game hunters during the rifle season.

Ok, you agree with the interpretation, but is that what is said in the guide?

I have never hunted bow in Sask, and from the guide, without any other experience in Sask hunting with a bow, I don't think the rule is very clear at all.
