Well I need some help! I was installing a new mainspring housing on my Kimber 1911 when after I had it out, I pressed in the grip safety and it went CLICK and now is stuck depressed

. Due to the grip safety being pressed in I cannot remove my slide because of the little pin activated by depressing the grip safety. I can move the sear spring but to no avail.

Any help would be great.

Take the mainspring housing back off and reinstall it making sure everything is lined up. The sear spring and the hammer strut can get out of whack if you're not careful intalling the housing.
Also make sure the mainspring is in the right way.

Well things have improved...sort of. I got the sear spring out and the grip safety unstuck. But now when I install my mainspring housing the trigger will not lock back!! I am not sure what I have done.

Is there a trick to installing the sear spring? I have changed out my main spring housing a couple of times on my Colt Series 70 with no problem.

Help...

As long as it's flat against the back of the grip and sits down as far as it will go it should be okay. The trouble I've had is not lining up that little rod in the notch at the bottom of the grip safety so it engages the mainspring properly.
That is the extent of my expertise!
When in doubt go backwards and redo.

The left arm of the sear spring was slipping off of the sear as i advanced the main spring housing. Once this was realized and it was held in place everything works like a charm:).

Thanks

That "little rod" would be the hammer strut! ;) :)

Make sure your three finger sear spring has the correct bends in it. Each finger of that spring has a job to do. If it doesn't have the correct bends in it, it can cause some of the issues you are describing here.
