Shotgun barrel questions??

Don't have alot of experience with shotguns but could you shoot rifled slugs or say 00 buck out of a 24",26", or 28" barrel and what choke would you have to use? Thinking of purchasing a gun with a 24" bead sighted, screw in choke barrel.

Yes you can.

00 buck can be shot out of any choke. So can rifled slugs for that matter.

Why such a long barrel if 00 buck and slugs is the preferred payload tho?

Ive alsways used a full choke and a 28 inch barrel with 00Buck for deer hunting when we did drives, deer would be up close 30-45 yards max. Worked well for me.

Rifled slugs, never had much luck, but I'd suggest trying improved cylinder or get a rifled choke tube and experiment with sabots.

Thanks for the respones guys! The slugs and 00 buck wouldn't be my first choice but some of the rivers and pot hole lakes we'd be at require bushwacking I thought if I had to use something besides bird shot, would it work. The shotgun I'm looking at is available with 24", 26" and 28" only and no option of barrel changing. My question is answered.
