I have a Springfield .45 my dad left me when he passed away. It is a beautiful gun, iron sights with a comp; and I was thinking I would like to start using it, and standard division would be the best place for it. I was wondering if anyone has ever taken the comp and cut it back leaving only a small portion of it with the sight left on it. This would be the easiest way to go, as long as it fits the box, only adding slightly to the OAL. Where we only have a 10 round limit in Canada, a single stack can be competitive here. Anyone that has done something similar, I would really like to hear about it, and would love to see pics. The end result would be like a "sight tracker" so to speak. Thanks in advance! I don't have a gunsmith nearby that would want to cut, recrown, dovetail the slide and add a sight, and many gunsmiths only prefer to do bigger jobs, and I don't blame them as smaller jobs aren't always profitable for them.

Lots of fun.
