I recently installed an AMR18 mount and have been having trouble with the windage with the scope windage maxed out it was still shooting 3" to the right. When I orginally installed it I did not use a torque wrench sense I did not have one.
Today I decided to try and reinstall the mount again, this time using a torque wrench. The directions said 90in pounds so I set the wrench for 50 to start out and before it even got to 50 the bolt just kept turning without getting any tighter. Now I can't get the bolt out. Any idea's?

"...just kept turning without getting any tighter. Now I can't get the bolt out. Any idea's?..." The threads are likely stripped. You'll have to drill out the screw, re-drill and tap for a larger size.

According to the guide that came with the ARMS mount it says 90 to 100 inch pounds

Yeah, for a bolt that size 90 inch pounds would be about right. Are you sure your torque wrench is properly calibrated. Might want to have it checked.

The bolt won't come out because the threads are stripped. It is now turning inside the stripped threads instead of moving along them. You might try putting some pressure on the back of the bolt through the receiver hole with a punch while turning the bolt outwards. Sometimes you can get any remaining threads to catch and allow you to take a bolt out. Have someone help you push while you turn.

It is a brand new torque wrench I got yesterday so I hope it should be set ok. I am hoping it's the bolt thats stripped and not the receiver.

Are you sure your torque wrench isn't in ft/lb?

And hate to say it, but usually bolts don't strip their threads...

Had the same problems with mine also bolt stripped on second mounting and I was using torque wrench. had to order a tap from brownells and a new bolt from wolverine. It seems at 90 inch pounds it is good for only one or two mountings and I had the same windage problem. I had to grind a fair bit on the mount to bring the windage close. So I got a Besset mount or two and they work way better

I got the bolt out today. The bolt has no threads left on it. The reciever threads also appear damaged but not has bad as the bolt. Now I guess I have to try and find a tap to hopefully fix it. If needed can the hole be drilled out to the next size and re taped?

Contact Mike Sadlak of Sadlak industries . He sells the tap, it is a odd size not available at most sources . I also believ that he would sell you a bolt as well . I am not sure if he ships to Canada or not ,but it is worth a try !
Hope this helps .....
Mike
