Quality of AR15 Brands

hello,
I'm going to by an AR lower and FA bolt, hopefully today to complete a build. I've read that all the AR brands in Canada are of good quality, but then I've also read that RRA doesn't have as nice of machining.

So far I have available:

Dlask
DPMS
Bushmaster
LMT

I have not heard back whether Armalite is available
Stag is out of stock.

Please let me know if any have outstanding quality or any should be avoided.
All help greatly appreciated.

ps. Do any of the sponsors or anyone else in Canada sell AR universal tools?

or do I have to go to Brownells
 
For a stripped lower, any choice is good so I'd go with the cheapest priced lower (wolverine had a great deal on stripped armalites). For LPKs it really doesn't matter (Although I'd typically avoid DPMS anything). Most LPKs I've seen aren't very consistent and vary within one brand. For a F/A bolt and carrier LMT is your best bet, or a Stag if you can track one down :)
 
Armalite, Stag, RRA, LMT, DPMS, Bushmaster are all pretty close to each other. I would avoid Dlask unless their quality control has improved.

not to try and hijack this thread but what would make one companys lower better than another not considering quality of trigger as i know that can affect accuracy but do some fit to the uppers better ( and act like a rifle with a better action bedding job ) or does the lower even affect accuracy at all
 
Lowers are all pretty mucht the same, go cheap, spend your money on a good barrel, its allll about the barrel. Next is the internal components.
 
While some people are happy with their DAR rifles and parts the majority seem to feel (myself included) that Dlask has very poor QC.

If they could remedy that I bet they'd sell a lot more here at home.

I would avoid Dlask unless their quality control has improved.

from my own personal experience, its about the fit and finish of the lower.

some lowers I've seen seemed really rough and not up to "spec" (based on difficulties in putting on "spec" uppers, various mags, etc.)

on some others, I have swap out uppers, lowers, mags, etc with no issues whatsoever.
 
When I "built" my first AR, I used an RRA lower and an LMT upper. Fit was perfect and very nicely colour matched. Cannot tell that they are two different brands.

However, from what I have read, there was a bad batch of RRA stripped lowers a couple of years ago. Apparently, they did not mate well with different brand uppers and had to filed a little to fit right. That problem was fixed quickly and RRA is back to making a top notch product.

My RRA lower was perfect and I would recommend them to others, no problem.
 
I'm sure the RRA's are nice and all... but I wouldnt get too excited about the DEA selecting it. I don't think anyone would ever accuse the DEA of knowing what they're doing...
 
Most of RRA .223 stuff is junk.

They had a batch of bad upper with rails out of spec and they tried to pass it as new spec rail to list one of their shortcomings.

I have zero faith in RRA for their .223 stuff the 9mm AR are fine.

Wow. How do you get a rail out of spec? One wonders how they make their uppers?

Edit: It says their uppers are forged..that may explain it....
