what scope base and rings? savage 308 F/TR

well i know i want to have steel.dont thing i will need M.O.A in the base(yet).hopeing to keep it around $100-$150 for the set.leaning more toward a Picatinny railtype.
any ideas out there
 
For a pic rail... I recommend Warne Tactical, or Kyle Precision Arms (exactly the same as the warne rail) I have the Kyle Precision rail and its so nice, perfect fit and finish and 20 MOA, $140. The rings I got for now are Leupold PRW 30mm good quality too, $65 or you could go TPS rings for $100. A little over budget but well worth the extra doe. All can be found at ATRS.... Good Luck....

Farrel 20MOA Base - Sinclair carries these cheaper than Farrel himself. $78 at Sinclair.

TPS ($120ish shipped), Burris Tactical ($100ish), Burris Zee Rings (not sure on pricing) are all good choices. I currently run all 3 styles of rings on the Farrel Bases on 1 Remington F-Class Rifle and 2 Savage Varmint Rigs. Soon to be 2 Rem F-Class Rifles.
 
Allen Gun Works carry EGW bases for a good price. I have bought two of them with very good results (one on a Savage short action and the other on a 40-X short action).
 
I would suggest the Farrell because it is taller and for F class shooting having the scope higher usually makes for a more comfy position. I like the MOA style.

Of course, you can shim the scope with Burris rings and use Weaver bases.

There is a trend towards steel for 'durability'. I have used alum alloy bases for a decade and never had a problem. Go for steel if that floats your boat but don't sell alum alloys short.

Afterall, this stuff is good enough to make landing gear for jumbo jets.

In my opinion you get what you pay for with rings and bases and also what you intend to use the rifle for. I had a Farrel base that cracked and as a result would not buy one again. I have Near bases on all my rifles, cost more than a Farrel but as said, you get what you pay for. I have also used Badger and TPS bases and no complaints. As for rings, Near, Badger, Leupold, TPS, Seekins etc.
 
Use an aluminum one piece Weaver style base and a pair of Burris Signature Zee rings, or a Leupold/Redfirld/Burris pattern base and Burris Signature rings. Under $100, and will do everything that you need.

+1 for the cost of the EGW there is nothing better. You get a full 20moa Picatinny rail for $50.00, great price, great unit, and Mike is great to deal with.
 
base and rings

Check out sshooter, they specialize in Savage rifles. 20 MOA Farrell base for $65 US, G-force for $75 cheapest I have ever seen and they will ship.

Rings( PRW, QRW, BURRIS ZEE, WEAVER NEW TAC...) they all work find.

I have them all on my rifles and no problems whatsoever.

p.s. also take a look at the Nightforce 20 MOA 2p bases. I have them on my Savage F-class and they look great.
 
i should have added them when i placed my order for the mag bolt face and other stuff to swop this over to a 300wsm.looks like i will be ordering the base from them for sure.might go with a 15moa or even a 10 moa.ill be getting the Zeiss 6.5-20X50 CONQUEST.and only place i have to shoot is about 250y.other then going to the outback and setting up something...found a few places i can do 1000yards once i get more Experience.

I ordered the bolt face for that same caliber also and some tac bolt knobs. Hopefully they will be here next week.
I already have a 20 moa base for it...but for sure will get it from them in the future. What Savage rifle are you changing it over? I am converting my 12vss with the Chaote stock into .300wsm.
