I have watched the "World SWAT Challenge" and other similar events with great interest over the years. Some of these events look like quite a lot of fun and appear quite challenging.

With the Army, I have had the fortunate opportunity, to participate in some of these type events both in the States and 'overseas'.

All that being said, does anyone here know if there is such a team event for civvy's? Something along the lines a civy type SWAT challenge? Similar, I guess to a 3 gun match, but as a team (say 4 guys or so), where the combined score of the team is the final score?

Thanks for any info. Was just curious. And from my understanding, the SWAT challenge does not allow "non-agency" teams.

wait wait wait, watched? as in on tv?

where and when is this stuff on. and if there is a torrent link so much the better

Mostly watched on Youtube or other video. Did however, get to watch the whole event in 2006 on tv while was training down in Arkansas. From what I understand, DVD's are available.

Stormbringer.... your absolutely right... LOL

so i was watching some videos, here are the issues i see

1)saftey-- yea you personally might be able to do it, running, jumping, rolling, entry tactics ect all while your gun(s) are hot, but would you vouch that everyone attending can? i know guys who i would vouch for, but running an event like this you are for sure not going to know everyone. of course you could stipulate "must have such and such training" but that is going to really limit who can compete (i for one would be out)

2) area-- im not familiar with all of the ranges, in fact i only know a few, but even the olds range (which is pretty big to me) doesnt seem like it would be big enough to do a full fledged comp like that

heavinIsAlie, yes ofcourse, you are right about the running around with hot guns... I would have to assume that the challenge (or match) would be run with safety as the paramount consideration.

A team match sounds like a lot of fun to me, with some really cool obstacles and the like, however, it would still be just for fun so yes, safety would be the first priority.

SFFGC ran a Charity match against Local Police.

PPC 600 match and 2 IDPA stages and one IPSC stage then 10 shots Trap.

Thinking of adding Service Rifle and opening it up a little for next year.
Try and get several Police teams, a Military Team, and several Clubs.

All money went to the Military Families Fund.

dinsdale, that is fantastic! I think that is a great idea I bet all involved had a blast. Since SFFGC members won the challenge this time, maybe a re-match next year?

And yes, this is the sort of event that I was thinking of. I would have liked to see a service rifle section, as you mentioned, and hope you do for next year.

How many people per team? Sounds like fun!

It was small this year, only 4 per team.
We didn't have much lead time and one of the Police Officers dad died and he had to miss the shoot along with his best friend.

Next year I think we will try to get Perth, Smiths Falls, Ottawa, Kemptville to enter teams or make up parts of teams. We can run about 40 people in a day on the weekend.
See what we can get the Police to commit to and then match participation from ours and other clubs.

That's the hope anyway.

Still sounds like a great time. I also think it is great that the police participated. Makes things interesting. 10 teams of 4 would be a great turn out make time for interaction.

Keep us posted about this. Work permitting, I would certainly like to enter a team next year.

Oh yeah, how did the police participants find it? Were they interested in doing it again? And lastly, how did the boys in blue do?

National Tactical Invitational....

Invitation only event attended by the best instructors and trainers in the business. It focuses on tactics, skill, and survival rather than speed, gadgets, or gear. Many of the big names in firearms and LE training attend, renown legal experts and champion shooters attend as well. Greg Hamilton and John Holschen of Insights Training Center are the only two-time National Champions and have placed in the top five at the National Tactical Invitational six years in a row. Impressively, Greg has trained more than half a dozen people to accomplish similar results. InSights courses are nationally known for their incredible attention to detail and for the level of performance of their graduating students. We will be hosting the crew from Insights in Vancouver this spring and summer before the NTI, as well as a few other Canadian Locations if there is interest...
