According to my local shop, the Butler Creek rep informed them that the company can no longer export their 10/22 steel lip, or any high-cap rimfire mags into Kanada.
....... "If you see 'em, buy 'em!" They're no more
....
This is not just a rumor as it comes directly from Bushnell who owns Butler Creek. The US govt will not approve the export of hi cap 10-22 mags in the future. They allowed current permits to be filled but wont allow any further exports. When we heard the news we bought every mag that was available and currently have a good supply. The same thing happened with the foldingstocks a few years ago. Phil.
Why do lame rumors keep popping up around here? I posted proof earlier from a US vendor, no such rule exists, I think some people on these boards just thrive on drama.
I just got back from Cabellas in Winnipeg. They had a large supply of the hot lips mags in stock.
When I went to the Wholesale Sports there they only had 10rd steel lip mags in stock. When I asked the lady there if they had any of the 25rd steel lips she said their order hadn't come in yet(2wks away). When I asked her about the ban. She had no idea what I was talking about.
I'm just wondering if there really is any truth to this or is it rumor?
I'm assuming if P&D says it's true, than it is?
Eric
This so called "rumor" was confirmed by two distributors that I get Butler Creek from and my Bushnell Rep. The fact that there is product on the shelves in Canada at the present doesn't mean that it is not true. I went through the same arguements a couple of years ago with the ban of the folding stocks where people accused me of trying to drive up sales. Come back in 6 months or a year from now and see how accurate this information is. Also check the prices of mags that will be for sale at gun shows in the furture and compare them with the prices available now. When the US had their "assault weapons" ban in place a few years ago and restricted the Butler Creek mags in the US , we had enterprising Canadians buying up mags in Canada and trying to sell them in the US at $100 or more, Phil.
