This fella was pushed out of a small piece of bush, and decided to try and make it across a cranberry marsh. He was about 150yds out chugging right along when I slid two Partitions through his boiler room going down on the second shot.

Nice moose Captonion! Thanks for sharing the pic with us. How in the heck did you kill that moose with a 25-06? I figure it should have bounced off the armor plate. After reading all the recent moose posts, I figured an uber magnum was required. Not enough "shock" in that little ole 25-06.

Shhh..... about the 25'06.;)
The rifle and ammo manufacturers will be pizzed at you.:D

Amazing how any amount of actual bullet placement will kill all those great big critters.:dancingbanana:

Wait a minute, you probably would rather shoot than talk.:sniper:

Thats IT.

I am going to go from a 72 lb bow down to a mininum 40lb....and to even push my luck MORE I am going to shoot my Moose with a field point rather than a broadhead, and rather than shoot him at 6 yards I am going to go for 60 or 70 yards and a frontal shot.

After all you guys are proving you just need a small little hole to knock 'em down.

Anything more than mininum is just FOOLISH and UNNECCESARY!

I know a F&W officer in Sask that uses a 25-06 for everything. Has no problem with moose and elk. I bought a 25-06 this year but haven't found a moose to shoot yet.

Okay, I can't resist, you get one pic but that's it for now.
This fellow was a neighbor to my Gramma. He bought this rifle in 1911 and it was his ONLY rifle he used after that for his hunting and trapping from that date until 1958.
Remington Model 8, 25 Rem caliber. Stuff that in your pipe and smoke it! :)

I've been lucky enough to find out where his rifle now lives and have been invited to have a photo session with the little machine. This Gentleman was the Man's man around our home community and the idol/mentor of all the kids of the day.

BTW, congrats on another moose.

Nice, I guess that's two this fall ? Anybody else in your group actually hunt?;)

LOL.Out of nine drinkers we have three hunters, and I have been the luckiest of the three.I actually saw three other moose. Two cows, and a bigger bull that didn't offer a shot I would be comfortable taking with my 25-06.Two I probably wouldn't attempt with my 375Ruger for that matter. The one I would have shot with the 375 was in a spot that was a bit thick for my little 25-06 bullet.

Did you hunt moose this fall pathfinder?WMU 40 seemed to be teeming with them this fall, and not far from yourself.

I put in for the draw in 30 and had no luck, Im still looking for calves.... at least the grouse are plentiful this year.

Im a couple hours from wmu 40, Im usually in 29,30 and 31 . My only consolation is that I have Antlerless Deer in 59 again this year.

This makes me laugh. No one would ever dare say that a 6.5 is too small for moose, but lots of guys say a .25 is too small. Someone tell me where the difference is in the .007" bullet diameter.

I know you can use heavier bullets in the 6.5, but many 25's have killed lots of game.
