What's the most likely cause? Spring on the magazine worn?
It's a P220 9mm Sig Sauer...a rare gun so finding parts is very difficult and I can't find a replacement spring.
Any suggestions?
Thanks :)

Are you talking about the slide not locking open on the last shot, with an empty mag??? If so try disassembling your mags and cleaning them. and check to make sure that the follower is being pushed completely to the top.
Has the mag recently been dis assembled??? if so make sure that the follower is installed in the correct orientation. Is there any binding in the slide lock lever??? give that a clean as well
a SIG p220 is not that rare, mag parts should be available.

If you have more than one mag and it is the same with all mags, it may be something else. Like maybe the the slide stop (slide release).

A common cause of "the slide not locking back after the last shot" on SIGs is your grip! Due to the postion of the slide lock lever, when your holding/firing the gun your thumb may be touching the slide lock release lever causing it NOT to catch the slide! This is especially common when using a thumbs forword grip. You just have to lower thumb a bit to correct it.

Ask the same question on sigforum, I bet you get asked about where your thumb rests! It is also a great place to get parts, shouldnt be to hard to find some for it.

If it's only happening with one mag, then you have your culprit. Mark your mags with numbers or something so you can keep track of which ones you're having any troubles with.

If it's all of them, or some of them sometimes, then it's very likely your grip. It doesn't take much pressure on the slide or the slide release to cause it to not engage.

I'm talking about the gun being fired at the range and then after the last round is fired, the hammer drops to a "click" and the gun is empty.
I only have two mags, and one of them I keep at home for certain reasons.
I can try to bring it next time but I'm almost positive it's the magazine somehow.
I'm not riding the slide lock in any way.
The P220 isn't RARE but in 9mm it's hard as hell to find parts for! I've yet to find 'em on any sites, and I've joined Sig Forum but no luck so far. :(
Thank-you all for your time!

If you use a thumbs forward grip I would bet it's your thumb... as mentioned before. I have the same problem with mine. All my mags lock back in my pistol when my buddy shoots the SIG but the second I pick it up... no worky. It just goes click on the last shot... goes to battery on an empty mag.

Let someone else try it right after you and see if it locks back for them.

I sthis a new development? Did you recently switch ammo? I have this on my Glock with a bad batch of American Eagle. Switched ammo and mystery solved.

I won't even ask why you keep the other mag at home, its not doing you too much good sitting there. I would suggest breaking it out of the glass case, or prying it out from under the table you needed to level, and give it a go. See if it has the same problem.

How many rounds are through this gun?

Do you release the slid by pullin git back or using the release lever? Could be you have a worn out slide-lock as others may have mentioned.

I also can agree that if you have a week grip, and your wrists are breaking up, you are loosing the inertia needed to throw the slide back. Get someone else to try the gun and see if they have the same problem.

My friend shot it and had problems with it failing to lock. This was a few range trips ago....
I said "Huh. Doesn't happen to ME" and went back to shooting flawlessly.
Then I started shooting with UMC JHP and it did it. Could be a bad batch of ammo I suppose. I usually don't shoot much UMC JHP but have before with no hiccups. The gun has unknown amounts of ammo through it; I've put at least 1000 and it's 13 years old so must've had a lot before me!
I slingshot the slide.
It never jams, just fails to lock back.
It's a new development and I know I do not have my hand on the slide stop, I have a lower grip usually than a lot of people, on pistols.

You've eliminated shooter error.

If a new magazine spring doesn't fix it, a new magazine follower will.

Brownells can sell you what you need.
