Cobra Skin/Snake Skin Finish on Barrels.

Does anyone know how to achieve this finish. I have seen them on BR Barrels before.

I had my smith try bead blasting my barrel with the plastic mesh that came on the barrel. He phoned and said that the 1st 1/3rd of the barrel turned out nice but because he had to handle it, the plastic mesh moved and the rest didn't turn out so well.

Any links to a how to or any first hand experience?

he is the man to ask. He did mine and it turned out awesome.

You have to stretch the mesh out and tape each end tight and handle it carefully... and smaller diameters do not look as good as larger ones. A hunting barrel does not come out as well as a heavy barrel.

Thanks Dennis. It is a 1.25 Straight Blank. I guess he didn't pull the mesh tight enough.

I wonder if I can talk him into polishing it up again and trying?
