I use 62 grs. Anything more a tad bit warm for my XLR. I Use the 350's for a hunting load, more oomph (on both ends). Hodgdon's minimum load tends to be everybody else's max for the .45-70. They take it to the 40000 psi level on the max end (NOT CUP's), safe for the Marlin, but the last 3 - 5 grs are very noticeable and could show slight signs of excess, mostly sticky extraction. The other classic "signs" don't appear generally until you're way over, and I'm not sure that's possible with this straight walled case. Only so much powder will fit - overdoing the slow burners only makes for a bigger flash as long as you stick to standard LR primers.
