hoppkins & allen revolver info needed

i am looking for some info on a hoppkins & allen revolver. it is marked ranger and it takes a rimfire shell which looks like a 32 cal. does this piece need to be registered? it is a rather old gun.

Flaydermann's Guide lists the company being in business from 1868 to 1915 but the few 32 rimfire revolvers they illustrate seem to have been made in the mid to late 1800's. On the basis of caliber it is an antique and on the basis of the probable date of manufacture it is also an antique and exempt from registration. I would not suggest asking the CFC because in the absence of precise information, their default is to declare a gun modern. Guns like Colt and S&W can usually be dated on the basis on serial number but inexpensive guns like the H&A often cannot be precisely dated beyond probable era.

there is a pat date of 1878 on the top of the gun but i did not notice a serial number on it. thank you for the info.

Them H&A 1878 Rangers ones are Considered Antique if there 32RF.
You should have no Trobles Deregistering it or getting a Letter stateing its Antique.
If its Not Reg now just enjoy it.

As has been stated before to own it in Canada you dont Need that CFC Antique Letter.

similar but the one i have seen has a little more scroll work on the gun and a round barrell.

it is a ranger #2 in good condition the pat date is march 28, 1871. the owner is wondering what it is worth.
