i tried some of these out today, and no word of a lie i have never shot a groups as tight as were shot with these today, we werent really going for extreme accuracy as we were shooting at an old discer blade as a gong at 430 yards, i loaded some barnes tsx's in my 300 weatherby and they would not penetrate the blade, just leave a big dent and sometimes crack then tried the 168 bergers in the 300 weatherby and they blew right through the disc blade with no difficulty:eek:, and i am still a full grain below the max load. I was totally impressed with these bullets and am very excited to try them on some big game.:sniper:

wow them Bergers should be awesome for large heavy boned game! sound like they penetrate awesome :)

Yep, those Bergers are sure to be great in game, considering they penetrate disc steel so well. FWIW, my 220 Swift penetrates steel very well also, that with a 55 grain HP. Regards, Eagleye.

I am going to try them myself on deer this year out of a 7mm mag. They shoot well no doubt. I have no doubt they will kill a whitetail with a lung shot but than again what would not?

I do not think I would load them on a trophy hunt of a life time.

It is really hard to believe they would out penetrate a solid copper bullet like a TSX, I have a hard time believing this, but what do I know?

Velocity cuts holes in steel better than energy delivered. My .22-250 will cut holes in steel plate at 150 yards but an uncles 416 Rigby just tips them over with a dent but what would you rather point at a large animal to penetrate deep? My guess thats why the bergers were cutting through the steel as they were holding there velocity better.

i had them over 73.5 gr of imr 4831 and cci primers, weatherby/norma cases, like i said it is still a full grain below max load, i am slowly working my way up to my max. Unfortunately i do not have chrony so not sure what velocity was like, but i have a vanguard with a 24 inch pipe.

The 24" pipe on my former .257Wby accounted for an average of around 175 fps slower than a fellow shooter with a 26" Mark 5. He tried my loads to safisfy my curiousity one day at the range. We both shot 3, 3 round groups and I catalogued the results. I would have to check at home for the exact details. H1000 powder was the propellant, 117 grain bullets.
